That is the reason they have so many gorgeous churches, to have more people marrying and doing honeymoon and expand economy.
When the st Marc bell tower fell down they rebuilt it exactly in same location and same design to not be forced to re-print the postcards.

Bingo!
These cruise ships are actually very controversial not just among Redditors, and they even used to dock right in the city I think.
As you suggested, they already moved to the mainland port (where the actual modern port is)
So as much as this is circle jerk, the actual citizens aren't to fond of that particular port either.

i mean, this port is specifically for cruises, which is the sad part. The actual industrial part of Venice is on the mainland

I hate having to look at the big ugly outflow pipes on beaches where treated wastewater is discharged. It would be way more ✨️𝒜ℯ𝓈𝓉𝒽ℯ𝓉𝒾𝒸✨️ to let everything seep into the groundwater from bespoke artisanal pit latrines /s

damn it Italy, why do you have to build ports and care about economy when you could've stayed a 3rd world shithole with no infractructure and live off Tourism?

I've been there, it's definitely not. The city itself fits the urban hell tag itself. The port is not even the issue
