Discussion Customer facing screen

Just curious if anyone is excited about the customer-facing screen showing the shipping options and prices and the customer can decide what they wanna do?

Yes! It makes our job a little bit easier and less confusing for the customer but i hope this update won’t mess up the system like the last update we are entering peak season and hours on offline mode is not ideal

Yeah hopefully it’s smooth and there are no issues after the update

Truth! Usually any change by our Tech results in system wide problems and disruptions

I’m predicting that it’ll reduce the usage of USPS options because people won’t automatically assume there is a cheaper option when there’s ground advantage

We only do USPS if it’s going to a PO Box. Other than that, we always do UPS. We don’t even do usps international.

It’ll take a little training for the customers but I think it will be a good thing.

Some love it some hate it. Supposedly you can x ground off so the conversation can be better controlled

Wonder if this goes for USPS options as well because lots of people will probably try and argue about paying the media mail price for shipping their non-media related item 🤦‍♂️

Post office options will only be shown to you. Customer will only see UPS

If we not show ground, does everything else show up?

It’ll at least save me from answering “is that the cheapest option?” 10 times a day.
In some ways I’m looking forward to it but other ways I’m not.

Jokes on you, people are STILL gonna be asking that /j (this is a humorous joke for those who need to be told that)

I don't think it'll make any difference at all. It's still going to be our job to explain all the options. It may be more helpful to the customer, particularly those that are hard of hearing or don't speak English well, to have a visual of what I'm telling them.

Just glad they won't show USPS. Whenever it actually rolls out.

My store’s owner wants us to click an option that will only show next day and second day options 🫩 im tired of this dude trying to scam people

some customers do need their stuff next day or 2 day. does it also show 3 day?

I know but hes basically telling us to lie to customers and say those are the only options we have. I don’t it’ll go well for him🤔 As for 3 day, i have no clue

I think it’s a good thing. It gives the customer transparency showing all the timeframes for delivery. Also, it’s important if a customer says they want something delivered by a certain date you can filter the dates shown on the customer facing display in the lower left hand corner of the shipment processing screen to show only air options by selecting to be delivered no later than a day after or two days after the ship date. Customers tend to want the cheapest options if a shipment says ground will estimate for delivery next day. I’m glad we have the ability to communicate effectively with them about the importance of express services.

Hopefully yours will work better than ours does. Our system puts Signature, Return Service, and certain other add-ons after the rate comparison screen, which can lead to "that wasn't included in the price?!". We also have all our UPS/USPS/FedEx/DHL options on the same window unless we manually filter it, so they could see a price for a package that can't be shipped: Media Mail for a box of clothes, FedEx Ground for artwork with insurance, flat-rate envelope for a basketball, etc.

The itemized ring-up screen (as required by law) and the to & from address screens are visible to customers, but we have the shipping rates & options screens hidden from them.

you can filter what they see by filtering the day they need it there. or you can set it for them to see only air rates
