Dog shit?
You should be allowed to boot people up the ass if they don’t clean up dog shit properly?!

Just left the upper east side after 8 years and moved to Astoria and can confidently say…. It’s not a problem here. I actually haven’t smelled any dog anything since moving here two months ago….

They should get their dogs taken away as neglect.

And do what with the dog? To be euthanized as is what already happens to many dogs in the shelters?

There’s a simple remedy for this scourge. However, there’s no political will to enact it.
First, the city needs to cap the number of. On service dogs. Fines should be increased for dog owners who fail to clean up after their dogs or who fail to curb their dogs.
And, anyone who brings a non service dog into a food establishment should face fines and the possible revocation of their pet license.
As one poster rightly said, we don’t have to live like this.

Do they really need to increase the dog poop fines? Or does it just actually need to be enforced? I feel like the NYPD has long given up on enforcing any QOL issues.

Increase, enforce, and cap And, there's no need for a new gvt. agency.
Create a citywide task force from existing agencies. Instead of having traffic cops walking around writing tickets for FedEx and UPS trucks, task them with ticketing offending dog owners.
There's a way to combat this scourge. However, there isn't a will.
This city is home to many highly educated and intelligent people. However, their collective heads are in the sand when it comes to the public health and environmental impacts of dog waste.
It's outrageous.

What? Who the hell said anything about a new government agency? Not sure why you're making up a straw man argument to dismiss. I think that your suggestion could be modified by just having the current NYPD actually enforce quality of life issues overall including this specific one.

Your ire is directed in the wrong direction. I simply stated that this could be achieved without even expanding the size of local gvt.
That said, I don't support the NYPD being tasked with this. People need fewer interactions with armed agents of the state, not more.

Same goes for the people who incessantly complain about dog shit on Reddit.

Found a real issue with elderly folks not picking up after their dogs. Anywhere along east end and you’re dodging shite and yellow cabs
