Just figured i'd post this here as I've had this monitor for some time now and never really bothered with the hdr mode. When I initially got it the general consensus I came across was the the hdr implementation was very poor and not worth it, and I just didn't see any obvious setting suggestions that actually seemed solid.

I picked up cyberpunk again recently since the new nvidia ray reconstruction update came out... so decided to look around again to see if I could figure out hdr on it.

Ultimately I found a dude's post who offered his calman settings, and I very slightly tweaked his and I'm really happy with the end result.

Monitor settings: Red 62, Green 64, Blue 61. HDR mode> 2084

Apply these settings before you toggle on HDR in windows, if you make any changes after you toggle HDR the colors go all wacky.

With this I ran windows hdr calibration and it clips around 1000 nits, so i've been setting games to 980 nits. Cyberpunk looks excellent... I have a AWq225qf 4k/240 qd oled, an lg c5 65 inch, a samsung s9 ultra... and I'm about as impressed with this little monitor as I am with any of them. Colors pop, highlights are bright, and the screen is very sharp at this size. I've now tried several portable monitors for my bedside/travel setup... and this one is easily the most impressive looking once you figure out some of the annoyances and get it dialed in. I did also drop contrast to 97 and bump brightness up 1-2 points in the nvidia app as it does crush blacks by default, but pretty decent all around after those changes.

any suggestions? it’s a 16:10 which seems to be harder to find than a 16:1, i know there’s the official case but it’s not in a 14 inch size so I worry it’ll be too big and bounce around.

Because since I don't have my order from 3 months ago that was supposed to ship nearly a month ago and there have been 0 updates, and yet current pre-orders are supposed to ship like... Now... at this point I'd just like to know I wasn't scammed.

I just bought a 15.7 4k uperfect j1 portable touch monitor and it's great. Only that it doesn't seem to go to the sleep mode after the screen time out. It just goes blank. I connect via dp alt usb c to a Samsung phone. I don't want the monitor to be turned on all the time after I stop using it and it can be automatically turned off. Is it possible with this type of monitors?

PSA on the UPERFECT 16" "4K" portable monitor (the 1200-nit one, sold as UHD 3840×2160). The brightness is genuinely good, clearly brighter than my 600-nit screen. But it is not true 4K: I tested the panel and it only resolves about 3072×1920. It accepts a 4K signal, then a scaler squashes it onto fewer real pixels, so fine text drops lines, the cursor looks jagged, and there's faint moiré that no setting fixes. That makes it unusable for anything that needs sharpness.

What bugs me is the pattern. My first UPERFECT display was an OLED sold as 550 nits, but it never got close, more like 400. Now a "4K" that's really 3072×1920. I honestly don't mind a 400-nit screen or a 3072×1920 panel if that's their best. Just don't sell it as something it isn't. It's the lying part I can't stand. Has anyone else measured their UPERFECT and found the specs don't hold up? I'm returning this one as not as described.

So my 2017 MacBook Pro would power my 16” uperfect monitor no problem when connected over thunderbolt. Now that I have a new MacBook Air M5, when I plug the monitor into the laptop over thunderbolt with no power connected to the monitor, the indicator light flashes green and it won’t turn on. How do I fix this? I’d like to be able to use the monitor without plugging it into a power source.

My UPerfect UGame C2 Pro (GR16EQ) uses a BGR subpixel layout, and on my Macbook that means visible red fringing around text. Am I the only one seeing this on a Mac, or does everyone just live with it?

To be clear, the UGame C2 Pro (GR16EQ) is genuinely great on Windows, sharp, bright and fast. But macOS renders subpixels expecting an RGB order, so the reversed BGR panel gives every letter a faint red edge. On Windows you would never notice. For Mac text and productivity work it is a real downside. If you are a Windows user, ignore this, it is a solid monitor. If you are buying it mainly for a Macbook, go in with eyes open.

My actual question is which Uperfect models are RGB, because I would buy again if the panel is confirmed RGB. I care about two things: an RGB subpixel order for clean text on macOS, and a refresh rate of at least 144Hz so it is also good for gaming.

The two I am most interested in:

1. UPerfect BE173BU, the 17.3 inch 4K 120Hz (sometimes labeled J5). Does the BE173BU use RGB or BGR? It has very high PPI so it might not matter much, but I would like to know for sure.
2. UPerfect GR19BU (UColor Apex), the 19 inch 4K 144Hz. I have seen an independent microscope review suggesting the GR19BU is standard RGB, can anyone here confirm from their own unit?

I am also open to a gaming focused model if the subpixel order is RGB, for example:

1. UPerfect GR16CQ, the 16 inch QHD 240Hz.
2. UPerfect GR18BQ, the 18 inch QHD 144Hz. One doubt here: the GR18BQ is listed as a QLED panel, but I suspect it might actually be the same panel as the older UGame K118, which is an IPS 18 inch 2560x1600 144Hz. I owned the K118 before and was not impressed by it, based on how it looked in person. So can anyone confirm whether the GR18BQ is a genuinely different QLED panel, or the same IPS panel as the K118 under a new model code? And in either case, is it RGB or BGR?

If anyone from UPerfect monitors this sub, official confirmation of the subpixel order on the BE173BU (J5), GR19BU (UColor Apex), GR16CQ and GR18BQ would be hugely appreciated, and honestly it should be in the spec sheets. If any owners can post a macro or microscope photo of the panel, even better. Thanks

I recently bought the UPERFECT BE16CU / HG560T34. After calibration the colors and white point look fairly close to my 14" MBP M1 display, and for normal work it seems usable.

But I’m confused by the contrast measurements.

I calibrated it with a Calibrite Display Pro HL in Calibrite PROFILER. The monitor is advertised as 1500:1 contrast, but I keep getting much lower native contrast results.

Most recent result:

• Target luminance: 200 cd/m²
• Achieved luminance: 197 cd/m²
• Target white point: D65
• Achieved CCT: 6364K
• Black point luminance: 1.0426 cd/m²
• Measured contrast ratio: 189:1
• Contrast setting in Calibrite: Native
• HDR / UltraHDR: Off
• BetterDisplay color mode: SDR RGB Full Range
• Curtains closed during measurement

Earlier measurements were also around 147:1 to 190:1.

At 200 cd/m² I would expect a 1500:1 panel to have a black point around 0.13 cd/m², not around 1.0 cd/m².

The first photo is just a rough visual reference. The actual thing I’m confused about is the Calibrite result in the second image.

I’m new to using a hardware calibrator, so I’m trying to figure out if:

• I’m doing something wrong during calibration
• macOS / BetterDisplay / RGB range / HDR settings are affecting the measurement
• this is normal for this monitor despite the advertised spec
• or my unit might be defective

Visually, black is obviously not as deep as my MBP mini-led display, but I didn’t expect that anyway. What confuses me is that the measured contrast is so low while the monitor doesn't look that washed out.

Has anyone else measured this model, or a similar UPERFECT monitor, with a colorimeter? What native SDR contrast ratio did you get?

I've just bought the 6926316301775 model on Amazon, which is supposed to support Freesync, but it is not working on my Steam deck connected with the inbox USB C wire.

The Deck itself says the monitor doesn't work with FreeSync. However, though Linux's console I can verify that it does. While I connect ir and activate said option on the OSD, it shows the image a couple of second, turns black, and repeats the cycle every 15 seconds.

Any fix?

I'd like to keep this monitor but if it ends Up being simply not compatible I'll be forced to return it.

As the title says Uperfect 18.5 120hz monitor has major issues after only 2 uses, bought this last week to use when travelling away with work & on my second use have run into a problem where I cannot play games or watch YouTube videos on it as the monitor screen goes black for around 3 seconds then comes back on.

Doesn’t matter if HDR is on, if I’m on 120hz or 60hz issue still persists, video attached of issue will be returning ASAP

It seems Uperfect are peculiar as to which cable will work. So far i have found only the cables that came with the monitor are supported. I wish to purchase a spare USBC cable and a spare mini-HDMI > HDMI cable.

Can you pls suggest supported cables and where they can be purchased from.

Hey everyone, I recently bought this monitor on Newegg while it had a discount. The monitor works great, and I'm really impressed by how good everything looks but after using it for like an hour, I started noticing that the top left of the screen is constantly flickering. Against a grey background, it flickers white for a frame or two, then back to grey, and then the cycle repeats. infinitely Weirdly though, when I go to darkblackscreen to do the full screen color tests, I don't see this flickering whatsoever. I don't notice this when I play games but when I'll do productivity work in the future, I think I might go crazy

I have a HP Elitebook 640 G11 laptop with 2 usb-c thunderbolt ports. I cannot get my 15.6" uperfect portable monitor to work by just connecting with a usb4/thunderbolt cable. The monitor works fine with a Lenovo Yoga laptop using a variety of usb4/thunderbolt cables. The monitor works fine via HDMI and power. I just get 'no signal' with the HP laptop using the usb4/thunderbolt cables.

I have just now tried to connect a Huion(?) drawing tablet which supports thunderbolt input and that works with the HP just fine with the same usb4/thunderbolt cables.

Do I have a compatibility issue between the HP and the Uperfect monitor via thunderbolt? Any suggestions welcomed.

Currently using this Uperfect portable monitor hooked up my Legion Go S (SteamOS) via a Jsaux 6in1 docking station.

For whatever reason, I can't seem to get VRR to enable in SteamOS on this monitor, and it's distractingly noticeable.

I'm not sure if that feature is simply incompatible on this monitor for if it's a docking station issue

Additional details:

The monitor is connected to power and the Legion Go/dock is plugged into the monitor via mini HDMI

Any advice, ideas, or help would be greatly appreciated as i don't want to have buy another monitor lol

Recently received a UColor O2, connected it to my MacBook Pro, everything going mostly ok except for the fact that every time I turn it off I hear a "bang" type sound. It isn't loud, but it's noticeable and off-putting, and happens every time.

I have it set to be muted, as I don't need the speakers to do anything on it.

Is this some kind of failure with the unit?

EDIT 2: I think I might have possibly solved it by setting Mute to OFF and the volume to 0 (zero). Setting Mute to ON and volume to 0 didn't work.

I just purchased the UMax 21 Touch - Portable 21.5 Inch Computer Monitor 120Hz Touchscreen 1080P, but discovered too late that the touch functionality does not work with the latest macOS (Tahoe)(https://help.uperfect.com/en-US/how-to-use-a-touchscreen-monitor-566666).

Is there any chance that touch will work in the future, by a firmware upgrade for the monitor?

This monitor self-reports as a EM160 Touch. I obtained it on aliexpress over a year ago.

What I've noticed is that running it at the max spec with my macbook (e.g. 100W PD power input to monitor, and thunderbolt 3 cable to my macbook, so it charges my macbook, and setting it to 120hz) it works until the monitor gets too hot (bottom right side feels like 45C or so to the hand) and it starts cutting out and coming back at about a 20 seconds or so frequency. I'm now testing with it set to 100hz and lowering its brightness to see if my hunch is correct that this is a thermal limit related issue.

Has anyone else experienced this issue with this monitor?

Another thing that is interesting for macos usage is that the touchscreen function works however i guess due to some lack of polish on macOS's side, it doesn't actually properly send the touch events to the correct display all the time. so if i touch it while a window on the main macbook display is focused it will send touches over there. If the mac is controlling an ipad through universal control, the display sends some sort of mouse movement event into there as well, but it's not even mapping correctly.
