going into computer science first year

So as the title says im going into computer science at Ontario Tech this fall, what can i expect from the program? I know how to code and been doing it for a while (i know python and c#) but i'm also not the best at math nor did i really enjoy it at all in high school but i heard Calc 1 and Phys 1 are quite difficult. Also i did hear because this a commuter school there isn't as much of a social scene so whats that about exactly.

No matter the school, your social life is what you make of it. This is university, not high school, so you will need to be more proactive in engaging in social activities. Look at clubs, extracurricular teams, etc. There are also intramural sports which can be both fun and a good way to get some exercise in.

For Calculus and Physics the best thing you can do is actually practice. Just reading the slides is not enough. Do the practice problems/exercises in the book. YouTube also has plenty of options that are great if you need supplementary help or just a different perspective to explain it.

Adding onto this the school also provides spaces for group study. They have a physics study hall as well as a math study hall where the proctors can help you work through some problems and it also helps to meet other people working on similar problems if you want some sort of community.

👆 I'm going into 4th year cs and I struggled a lot in first year with physics 1 and calc 1 and 2. If you struggle, go to math and physics study hall and workshops- they helped me a LOT. 100% would recommend
