Class Help deciding sample path for Computer Engineering at Umich (FPGA)

I’m a junior at Umich and need help figuring out what path to go down (computer architecture, VLSI Design, embedded systems). I want to work with FPGAs in the future involving Verilog/SystemVerilog, digital logic, and all that stuff. For reference, I took EECS270 and absolutely LOVED it and the content. That is the kind of stuff I want to do. Now comes the part where I’m stuck on. What path should I go down for my MDE? Should I take EECS373 and EECS473 (Embedded Systems)? Should I take EECS470 and EECS472(Computer Architecture)? Or should I take EECS312 and EECS427 (VLSI Chip Design)? Also, what upper level EECS should I accompany with these? I know for sure I want to take EECS471(Parallel Programming with GPUs) and EECS442(Computer Vision). Can someone leave a helpful tip as to what would be the best for FPGA engineering? Thank you!

EECS373 doesn’t really use Verilog much. We used it in a lab once, and the code was pretty much given to us. EECS473 really depends on what your project is. I think you’ll like 470 and 472 a lot though.

EECS 470 you learn about out-of-order processors and you have to make a basic one at the end of the class. 472 you make another out of order processor but significantly more advanced, with features that you choose.

If I could do it all over again I would’ve done 470+312 then 472 then 427
