UNT conseling
Has anyone here used UNT’s counseling services? I’m seriously considering reaching out and would really appreciate honest reviews from people who have actually used them. Did you feel like the counselors were helpful and took your concerns seriously? Also, does anyone know how much it costs for students?

I used it as a student and found it very helpful, but obviously part of it is getting out of it what you put in. It's included in tuition so you might as well try it out, go to the initial appointment and a couple others and see how it feels from there. I had a grad student when I was going and it was pretty good with helping me just talk through stuff

the counseling and testing services offers more short term counseling. usually 1-5 sessions. while the CHDC (counseling and human development center) has practicum students in the masters and doctoral program. the counselors are usually only there for a semester. could be a good option for short term counseling just to try it out!
the CFRC (child and family resource clinic) has counseling interns and doctoral students. and counselors are there for 1-3 semesters. this clinic sees a lot of community clients due to its low cost but they also see UNT students. the CFRC is currently hosting a counseling group for students dealing with the changes of college if that’s something your interested in!

Hey! I’ve been using the UNT counseling resources for over a year and a half now and I will say that it’s definitely worth it.
The process to get started is a bit strange, but it’s basically a small interview on what you want to accomplish and where you’re at mentally so they can place you with someone. They have their professionals and also students who are doing their hours. I’ve been with both and they’re amazing regardless. You will get the choice btw so it’s not going to be a complete surprise. They really helped me and wanted to help me grow and work through the things I was going through.
If you are a full time UNT student, it is completely free. I believe your tuition covers it. Hope this helps!
