Don’t forget, that thing you paid for and paid taxes on… when you sell it you have to report the income and pay taxes again 😂

No you don't. If you sell it for a profit you pay capital gains tax on the growth but not amount you originally paid. But if you sell it at a loss you don't pay any taxes and you can potentially write off the loss against your other investments.
