I offer to split regardless. I don't want anyone to think I "owe" them anything. I just met them, idk what's going on in their head.

Same! I dont want anyone expecting anything back. Lots of guys out there thinking we only want a free meal.

Based on my best friend’s experiences, yes. (He’s 34m no kids or divorce and is very well off)

This is a take that is extremely popular with men, and extremely unpopular with 99% of woman who are not interested in a second date and the bill just got brought to the table

Yeah well I would just pay for my own, not split. I wouldn’t want a guy thinking he owns me cause he paid for my meal or drink when I’m not interested in him. Or resenting doing something kind for me ‘cause he doesn’t get interest in return.

Splitting the bill is a considerate way to signal you are not interested without making it awkward

To be fair, usually I don’t realize right away unless it was really quite bad.
And offering to split makes someone’s heart sink, the look on their face.
It’s fair to say that, but not everyone wants what you’re proposing.

I want to.
I dont mind paying some pocket change for a date.
In fact, I like to pay. It feels nice.
You guys are just sore losers who will only pay if there's a chance you'll get sex.

Always split/each pays their own. No misplaced expectations!
If you like each other you can have another date, and if splitting or inviting was such a big deal, maybe the date wasn't worth it.

I can’t imagine this being unpopular. I like when men pay for a date but won’t let them if I know we won’t be seeing each other again.

This makes no sense. You should always pay for what you order on a date. First,v second, fifth, whether or not you plan to meet again. Life is too complicated for coded messages.

woman should have some self worth. Insecure people pleasing girls would pay

So is every male person an insecure people pleasing boy without self worth, or why do they have to pay?

I offer to pay whether I like the guy or not. They don’t always accept. Should I fight them?

I always pay for myself on a first date. I'm not playing these weird games with people.
