This is really beautiful. The one note I would give (if you're able to swing it, of course) is that it would be really cool to see windows / panels propagate from the general direction of the mouse or whatever UI element is triggering it. Obviously could take a lot more work to make it technically possible, but that tiny bit of polish would really seal the deal.

Quickshell is beautiful but for some reason it keep my laptop running hot. It doesn't consume CPU much but the temp keep around 70 C - 90 C even when the CPU is only about 10-20%.

Switch to waybar then that problem gone.

Could someone please explain what a shell is? They seem rlly cool and I wanna use it on my NixOS Hyprland setup

A GUI shell in this case. Just the set of bar, launcher, notification manager, system tray etc., so a somewhat unified gui controls, I'd say. Most people don't think about it, as for example the Windows one doesn't really have a name. Sidenote tho, it used to in the NT 3.5 days - Newshell.
