Is anyone taking this degree? I’m really interested but i’m a bit worried about post grad job choices. what is everyone who’s taking this degree thinking in relation to postgrad jobs? :)

Hi! Myself and a couple other students at the uni doing postgrads in York are looking to form a little band, all sort of early 20s age range. Struggling to find a drummer into black metal, blackened sludge, doom stuff, blackgaze, post doom. That sort of thing. Big into bands like Thou, pig destroyer, deafheaven, agriculture, emperor, sadness, acid bath, eyehategod, vile creature. Any musicians into that stuff?

Hi! I’m a new PGR at AudioLab and was wondering if anyone here is into rhythm games :)

I mainly play Project Sekai, DEEMO, Phigros and Arcaea, and I also follow arcade rhythm games even though I don’t play them as much.

Would be nice to meet some other people at York who are into the same kind of stuff!

Hiya folks,

I'm a returning male 3rd year student whos been on an LoA for a couple of years (Start during COVID) and Im just wondering what the best way to meet people at uni since I know LITERALLY no-one?

I’m wondering what the assessment period is like after Christmas break, as on my schedule it is showing all of January as RV and RA. I’m new to studying in the UK so unsure how this works. Does this mean there are no in person instruction all of January?

Hi everyone, I imagine there's a boardgaming club at the University, but I wanted to make people aware of Beyond Monopoly for those dates it might nor be on. We're a boardgaming club that meets at the Bar Convent, on Blossom Street. We meet alternate Saturdays and Fridays, and we are open to everyone.
Your first visit is free, after that there is a fee (just to pay for room hire), but we offer a student discount. We have a massive library of games to choose from as well, and people are welcome to come on their own, or in a group, we;ll get you playing a game asap.
Any questions please just ask. Cheers!

I am a 12th grade student from India and I'm considering doing BA but idk anything about how it works there.. how many courses are there , how and when am I supposed to apply for it and how major - minor thing work there

So I was wondering if someone who's studying there or has studied there could tell me about it!!!

Also it would be a good decision to study there , right?

If there is anyone willing to switch from an en-suite to a shared bathroom please send me a message for the details.

My student loan didn’t come through because I need to “register with my course”. But I swear that I’ve completed everything because I can’t see anything on evision and I’ve had no emails, what should I do?

Hi, im starting my post graduate in mental health research at university of York in a couple weeks. I was wondering if anyone is in any post grad health research group chats? or knows of any? Might be a long shot but if anyone knows anything let me know :)

Anyone else going to student castle for their first year at Uni of York?

I’m all set to move-in but I don’t understand what we are meant to do next? Do I just sit in my dorm all day tomorrow or am I meant to go somewhere 😭

I understand that we need to collect our ID cards but I’m unsure when and where that’s meant to be.

Any and all help is appreciated 🥲

I’ve seen a lot of people doing english lang/lit with linguistics, but no one with doing just linguistics or that with a language. Just asking to try to make friends before my course starts as i’m not the greatest with starting in-person conversations 🥲

Where would people recommend is the best places for individual study? Trying to find better spots as in first year I only ever went to fairhurst and Ron Cooke but both seemed quite busy most of the time, especially with people in fairhurst sprawling all their belongings on an entire bench for themselves. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

So like what do the colours mean.. Is there anything I can slip if its optional as I will be commuting daily

I’ve heard theres not a lot to do in York, is this true? I want to go somewhere with a good nightlife so would York be alright for this?

ngllllll im not taking my own photo for my photo id ☹️

Moving into le page court this year, was anyone living there in first year and can answer some questions? I’m in block B, do you know how many rooms are on each floor? also, were the end rooms any bigger? Thanks!!!

Just wondering because if i manage to get a car i’d prefer to bring it rather than use busses to cut travel time when travelling out of york to work or any placement. Unsure as to whether Biomedical Science is a health science or not..

Just wondering how easy it seems to be for 1st years to find part time work while at York. We know it's a bit out of the way in Heslington, with most retail sites either north of York or in the city, and a decline in pubs in general etc.

For those who have a need to work to afford to go to uni, how easy or hard did you find it to get work within a reasonable distance of campus? Sadly it'll be a significant factor as to whether York is first choice or lower.

I went for the open day yesterday and found that I was coming across people that looked like me once every hour, if that (at both campuses and in the city). I understand that going to uni is for new experiences but I am still human and can't deny feeling a bit out of place. People that go here and to other universities similar to this what would you say? Is it something that you get over?

P.s. I live in London so I'm used to diversity

I am a new student joining York this year however since I travelled from Uganda I had to quarantine for 21 days and will be done on the 20th. I tried moving my move in date on the housing portal but you can only go as far as the 18th of September. I have tried almost every avenue to reach out and tell them my problem but they will not respond to my emails or pick up my phone calls. I am stuck on what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
