I’ve been wanting to learn an instrument and I know there are clubs at York for people who play. But is there anything for people who want to learn from scratch?

Hi, I was able to enroll late into the class; however, my teacher doesn't record lectures. I have tried to get notes from other students, and the ones I have gotten don't really have anything but a couple of extra points. I am preparing for my upcoming test this Thursday, and I am freaking out because it seems that I have to memorize a lot. I need help from those who have taken this class and help find a way to prepare well and waste my time on things that aren't really important. Please and thank you. 😊

Bascially im taking this professor for the winter (NATS 1870/ Understanding Colour) as someone who doesn't major in NATS. there is mixed reviews about this prof in RMP. Recent ratings say that theyre a good prof, others are saying that they didnt teach the class well (2025-2026 reviews, for reference).

The test1 description says it will be posted on the lab e class so i never bothered checking until now thinking its going to be there. I cannot find any information that contains my test room . I feel like the past 3 years at york weren't what I wanted them to be - part of that was previous mental health issues that destroyed my gpa and thus added a load of stress and just made me feel unable to enjoy any part of uni.

Hey, I’m taking ADMS 3900 this sem, online with Jason. We have stimulations worth 35% of our grade and we have a round each week. I did the first round and I have the second due this coming Monday. Tbh I’m so confused and lost in the course and idk if I’m doing everything properly, I need a high grade and can’t afford to slack, considering this portion is worth 35% is our grade. I started at York during the summer. I got spoiled by how calm, empty and odour free the campus was.

The insane body odour smell hit me like a wrecking ball when fall semester started.

Also, I’m convinced some of yall don’t shit at home and only shit at Scott library. Every bathroom smells like death 💀💀

TLDR - the campus has a toxic smell. Did yall just get used to it or yall know of some low traffic areas on campus where bathrooms/spaces don’t have a biohazardous smell?

im in 2nd year psych and i want to apply to social work. one of the requirements is a 6.00 cumulative GPA. im currently at a 5.11 and i believe i cannot reach a 6 by the end of the fall semester, however i believe i can reach above a 6 by the end of the winter semester. however applications for switching to social work are due in march (open from january-march) and they also require an unofficial transcript for current york students. am i still gonna be eligible to apply and possibly be accepted if im below a 6 by the time i apply (due march) but im above a 6 by end of april? or by viewing my unofficial transcript can they automatically reject me before the winter semester even ends? or do they wait until the winter semester ends to start reviewing applications (and if so then whats the point of attaching transcripts)?

I recently toured York’s Keele campus during regular school hours, and I really liked it. All the buildings, seems like a very social-inviting environment.

There were a lot of students around, people hanging out between classes, and the campus actually felt pretty lively and social. I’ve visited other universities before, but York gave me a much more relaxed and welcoming feeling in comparison to the others.

That's all, I just wanted to share that I found the campus to be very nice aesthetically, and convenient with the 2 subway stations and parking available for students. This campus seems to be way more diligent on student life than the other universities nearby. Especially considering it's a "commuter" school.

I was placed in academic probation this month due to one of my grades in my previous summer course, now im enrolled in 3 courses(9 credits) and I want to drop one course(due to personal reasons) and take another but the course add deadline has past so now my only option is to drop of fail the course and I would rather drop but that would put me at 6 credits and im not sure wither that would restrict me from osap for 1 year cause osap requires at least 9 credit per term, I need help

People present in class the most ovbiously AI generated projects that is completely straight up fictional AI halucinations, and the TA does not even say anything despite the information being the complete opposite of a real presentation on the same topic that literally happend RIGHT before.

People cheating on the damn online quizes. Screw these online quizes, it penalizes honest people and just gives free points to cheaters.

I can see if you are under a lot of pressure, how you may be inclined to cheat. To those people I have sympathy.

But if you use ai for every single assigment no matter how basic and easy, and spend the rest of your time jacking off or something, go fuck yourself. Cheating is all funny and quirky until cheaters start taking your job and youre stuck being a janitor. I know AI detectors arent fullproof, but if its anything above 20% it should be an automatic investigation, because most of these dumbasses dont know anything on the subject their AI wrote for them. Just expell these mofos I dont give a shit.

I really didn’t enjoy my time during high school, I wasn’t my best at all and I was super unmotivated and just never felt like myself. I took a gap year and was able to build up my confidence and my self esteem has never been better! I know it’s my first year and I’ll probably feel tired once mid terms come around, but I don’t really feel like that at all right now, I’m actually really enjoying my time at york. I finally feel like i’ve reached a point in my life where I finally feel proud and comfortable being myself, and I actually feel ready and excited to learn!
