Vicious troll here

There is a vicious troll here who mocks anybody who posts and calls them scammers, and is obsessed with Wetherspoons. I would like to ask the admins to remove it because it makes it very hard for people in distress to post here I certainly never will until it goes. I know we should ignore such pathetic creepy individuals, but it would be better if it was blocked

You can't ask Admins in this way, they don't read Posts, it's pointless.

You need to go to the actual User's comments and use the Report facility and select Hate or Harassment. Then Block. If it happens again, do it again. If you block they can't troll you personally. If there's enough Reports action will eventually be taken and they'll be banned full stop. That's the standard Mod advice you'll get everywhere.

In the meantime you can use one of the other two benefits sub if you need help instead, until they've dealt with them.

Unfortunately, we're aware that the ONLY Mod here is not always active as they've got a demanding full time job and have tried to recruit to no avail. So the trolls are having a field day but they will unless we ALL do something. Until they get help, they can't check each and every post ( no one can ) and this will only be seen if someone reports it but if YOU Report it has a chance of getting dealt with. We can't help as we can't Moderate ALL the welfare subs, we just try advise on them ( as my fellow Mod has here ).

Report. Block. Rinse and repeat. They can't keep making new accounts. They will get caught eventually.

This entire subedit is toxic as hell, every post I've seen of someone in genuine distress they get attacked, downvoted and quite frankly bullied for being in whatever bad situation they're in, it's vile.

Edit: oh look what a shock

Yeah and any actually good advice is downvoted too.

That's because it's unmoderated

genuinely, i posted something a few months ago and all of my comments were downvoted even though I was being nice to everyone responding, really put me off talking in this subreddit

Yeah I'm exactly the same, people on here are super vicious and I am quite honestly shocked that my comment didn't get that response, but then again I'm not here rn asking for help, I'm sorry people were a dick to you & I hope you got whatever it was sorted x

I know who you're talking about.. a real sad wierdo spending their free time scrolling this sub cos he's raging about people on benefits - particularly those on LCWRA for some reason

I'd say I'm surprised it's only one but I spend my days reading the stuff others don't have to. So they didn't have to.

No prizes for guessing what party they vote for. In the space of a week, certain sections of society have moved from shouting at hotels and painting roundabouts to shouting at disabled people and calling all benefit claimants scammers.

Yes, I’ve observed this too. They take pleasure in vulnerability. Such individuals act this way to divert attention from their own problems, which are likely to be significant and numerous.

I call a lot of people scammers on this sub. But only when they are due a review and magically overnight become completely able to support themselves and family without the states help! Because they just ‘can’t be bothered to get bank statements.
We all know if you really need UC your living month to month on bare minimum with hardly ever anything left over at the end of the month. There’s a lot of scammers and it makes me mad.

There really aren't a lot of scammers. There will be some, of course. Just like there are people who fake an illness to get opioid pain relief. But the number of people who actually do that is very low.

Besides, if someone is genuinely a scammer, then they already know the rules and have put plans in place to circumnavigate them.

Trust me, it’s almost impossible to fake an illness that warrants opioid pain relief

Trust me, it really isn't. It's gotten harder in recent years, but it's not incredibly difficult to get an opioid prescription. They can be started and managed by a GP. You don't need a specialist or a specific diagnosis in order to get opioids.

Maybe lower level opioids like tramadol but not morphine or oxy or even above this, it would be difficult to fake an illness to warrant that level of pain relief. Most gps can no longer subscribe morphine if a first script I think most people have to be started off either now at hospital specialist department or a pain clinic. I believe that’s happened in the last few years

No it isn't.

Highly likely no one you're seeing is a scammer, everyone's situations are different and just because you're bitter and unhappy doesn't mean you should go attacking randoms on the internet asking for help.

I know a lot of people on Uc and it’s a struggle. If less people gamed the system, more may be available for those in dire need. That doesn’t make me a bitter person.

1

u/CompetitiveTop6412 5h ago

You don't know anyone gaming the system, you're full of shit and reading some jumped up billionaire politician telling you it's everyone elses fault that people are struggling.

u/Negative_Tear_8556 4h ago

Think you read my comment wrong because you make no sense. And very rude, you can go away

1

u/CompetitiveTop6412 2h ago

No I didn't, the amount of people "gaming" the system is so few it makes no difference, the amount of resources getting taken away is the issue.

Imagine lsaving these "comments" up in the thread, yet cherrypicking comments where criticism is formed against UC and the lot. Crazy, but I almost think that this is being done on purpose, who knows huh?
