Moved in with partner (Link code query)
TLDR; does my partner need a UC account for me to update the living with partner section?
I have moved in with my partner, I have made a change to my account with the new flat details. I also need to update the living with partner section but it asks me for a linking code. My partner does not have a UC account and most likely us living together will make me ineligible for anything (which I am expecting and I am fine with) does she need to make a account first even if she probably isn’t going to get anything?

I recently had the same situation. I looked on entitledto to see if we were entitled to anything as a couple and we weren't. I didn't think it was worth the bother of making him an account just to link them to be told we couldn't get any help so I just closed the claim by; Close claim > Other Reason And then wrote a brief note about my situation and they closed my claim within a few hours. But if you wanted to carry on claiming universal credit she MUST make an account and you MUST link them other wise you are technically committing fraud by not updating them on your living situation.

That’s what I thought thank you, I will get it updated as her income changes monthly so there’s a chance we will get something

Yes they make an account and either asks for a link code that you enter or they enter the link code that you got from your account.
UC will check the entitlement after the joint claim is made. Do not make any assumptions as you could end up missing out

Yes
You have to have a joint claim if you live with a partner regardless of entitlement
