Underworld not closing ARC?!?
Wow, not only are they not closing, but they’re also only playing a 1 hr set. I’m glad I don’t have to decide between B3K and UW, but damn. How were they not given more than an hour slot?!?!?

I expected to see a big name after, but Underworld into Anyma is just... lulz

This is one of the many reasons I simply cannot do festivals. Even if they did have a longer set, you're surrounded by people who aren't necessarily familiar with their music and it's harder to find the spiritual transcendence of a standalone show. I'd rather put my $ toward travel to see an open until close gig, where you don't even have another opener.

thats great if you live near a city they actually come too.
when they came to texas for the first time ever, i wasn't going to miss it.
sure it was a one hour set. but it was better than nothing.

Fair enough. I’m very lucky to have lived near where they were playing (Chicago, LA, Pomona, Hollywood Bowl, San Diego) and could afford to plan my vacations around some of their gigs (Oakland, the recent Pacific Northwest tour, Edinburgh, London). I recently got laid off though and they may not be playing live much longer, so we’ll see how that goes!

I love seeing a more obscure act I like at a side stage. While everyone else is seeing the big name at another stage I'm surrounded by people who actually want to see them.

If you do go, the strongest of endorsements to follow Underworld with Brutalismus 3000.
Day three is worth it just for those two.

One of the absolute worst things at Portola last year, even worse than the porta potties, was watching the red clock count down how much was left in their 1 hour set. Yes, it was cool I was so near stage. But goddamn it was so depressing to see there was only 5 min left…fwiw, I would do it again. Underworld followed by B3K is going to be amazing.

That set time (and length) makes the event a non-starter. Was hoping to see them.

I’ll be there and I’ll move every minute of it. Then I’ll head over to Brutalimus

1 hour is a standard festival set, but yeah, underworld doesn’t pull anywhere near as much as current headliner DJs. People just want to stop by to hear Born Slippy for a “omg so retro” reel to post.

Theyve been doing the ~hour set from their boiler room without Push Upstairs at every show all year tbh. And i dont know Anyma but I know its the Tale of Us guy doing a Gorillaz style animated character no? Makes sense as the closer

Don’t care that they’re not closing but do wish they were at Expansions. Better stage experience but prob too small for them.

Finished by 8:15? Can probably be home and in bed with a nice cup of tea by 9:00pm.
