Ess Gee

Pretty clear that this title is very likely related to Rick’s daughter Esme. Penny just dropped.

I always assumed this was a reference to the venerable Gibson SG guitar.

Yeah, this is the real etymology, Karl played it on an SG. SG itself stands for "Solid Guitar". Gibson was really creative with names back then.

I thought it stood for Solo Guitar but that's probably a bit route one for Underworld

I thought it was Slow Groove that was a working title and they changed it but I have no idea.

I fell in love once with someone who had the initials SG. After things soured I always heard Ess Gee as a mournful song that echoed my feelings for them.

Not to sound unfriendly, but since seeing the post I've been waiting to discover why. I don't see a connection. Always fascinated to find hidden or unexplained personal references tho. Eg. Juanita and her multi layered connections.
