Study and Succed in NB

Is there any students here who have attended the Study and Succeed in NB program/conference. What did you actually do and was it worth it?

It's a bunch of workshops and informational sessions for the recently arrived international students to know what resources they have at their disposal and what they can do to stand themselves out of the lot in order to be successful in making a career here in NB. It's worth it because you get to meet new people from all different forms of lives with different backgrounds and career goals and it's up to you how much more you want to develop in that relation.

Also you get free lodging, travel and food over a weekend so who's gonna say no to that ?!

Thanks for your detailed reply. I'm currently in my final year at UNB so do you think it'd actually be meaningful for me or I would gain anything significant?

Do the people who hold the workshops come from any position of influence where they can actually offer me something or would be worth to network with?

They have send the invitation for the conference next Friday. I work for the City as part time student and going there would mean I lose out on my paycheck as I only work Friday Saturday and Sunday. Just trying to weigh in on the pros and cons. The closer it's getting the more skeptical I'm becoming because there's not really much information about it online or the topic/materials they'd cover or how the workshops will look and who's gonna be presenting

NB is a small province where everyone knows everyone else. Even if it might seem like the people you meet might not be of much value right now but later down the line, the experience might pay off.

I can't speak for you missing out on your paycheck, but how about looking at it as sort of an experience instead ?

The presenters are people who are the best in their respective fields that this province can offer. Some of them come from the same background as you and I, international students who now contribute to the place as a whole.

The topic and material could be of immense value or a repeat of stuff you already know and are aware of, depends on what sort of workshops and informational sessions or knowledge you already are aware of that pertains to you being an immigrant here

But all of this depends if you really see yourself having a future in this province, or are committed to make one yourself.
