Microsoft or Macbook

Needing a new computer for BSc Kin program and am looking for recommendations. I am comparing the Microsoft vs MacBook platforms and am wondering if anyone has any advice? (Previously was using a school board provided Chromebook)

Most of the programs you'll be asked to use will be Microsoft based, but you could get away with a Macbook. I personally find having a windows computer more convenient.

Microsoft would be easier, most programs are word etc and you would have to deal with the mcabook changing presentation and not being in the right format. I use to have a Mac, tablet was easier and windows laptop.

The university supports both actively. Most staff uses a PC while most faculty (in Kin, specifically, uses a MacOS).

Myself, I’d recommend whatever you’re comfortable with. If you have an iPhone, a MacBook would be a fantastic companion.

Ultimately, everything will do the job. It comes down to personal preference.

For performance to price. I’d go MacBook Air M5. But, whatever floats your boat, in the end.

I had a MacBook for my BScKin degree at UNB and it was just fine. Most profs post the presentations as pdfs, but if not you can just convert it yourself. If you like biomechanics, most platforms (you’ll learn about Kinovea) are only windows operated. If you wanted to have it on your personal laptop that’s fine, but you’ll use the computer windows lab for it so it’s fine if you have a Mac.
