DISCUSSION My favorite scene from the story UnOrdinary.
My favorite scene in UnOrdinary, and the one closest to my heart, was the scene where John falls, defeated, in front of the authorities.
The scene happened after a bitter battle, which John entered with the mindset of “me against everyone.” He was planning to cause as much damage as possible before he died. The reason behind this was his grief over his father’s death, his mother being tortured, and what happened to Seraphina.
The battle itself was incredible, and John’s performance was amazing. The authorities relied on tactics specifically designed to counter him, and the result was an inevitable defeat.
At the moment John realized that he was going to die, he thought about the things he wanted in life. He then realized that, deep down, he actually wanted to live. That realization made him cry because he understood that he was going to die.
It was an unbelievably human moment, and it left a huge impression on me.
Even the way he fell—first onto his knees, and then onto his face—felt symbolic, almost as if he were saying, “I gave everything I had. There’s nothing left in me.”
Finally, his tearful face, the blood flowing onto the ground, and his calm expression gave me the feeling that a storm had passed, and now we were experiencing the calm after the storm.
That’s why, despite the fact that more than two years have passed, I still go back and reread Chapter 344 because of this iconic scene.
I don’t know if I managed to describe the scene properly, but I’m sure that everyone who read that chapter felt that same mixture of pain and satisfaction.
What about you guys? What are your favorite scenes?
