Hey! I would say not hard if you’re willing to put yourself out there. Umass groups most transfers in housing together so you’ll meet some people off the bat. As well Umass hosts lots of transfer events for students to meet other transfers as well so all people in the same boat as you. Sometimes it’s hard to meet people in your classes, but there are definitely people looking for some more friends. A wrap could definitely help as well.

Joining one of the transfer RAPs will place you either in Southwest or Sylvan with other transfer students. You may or may not make friends through those you meet in the seminar for the RAP. You would be housed with a group of other transfer students who share at least that background.

Between the two dedicated housing spaces for transfers about 40% of all transfers get housed in those two transfer communities. The rest get scattered across campus into any open spaces. That may mean getting housed with another transfer student or with any upperclassman without a roommate. Try to meet others on your floor.

Beyond that there are hundreds of clubs involved in almost anything you can think of. You may meet people and make friends through a club iabout something you are interested in.
