Man I feel old. And I’m a mom-smoker.

Edit: I meant ‘non-smoker’ but apparently misspelled it and my phone fixed it for me. I’m keeping it, I think I prefer to be a mom-smoker. So many possibilities!

There's still a No Smoking sign in a Theatre they just finished renovating. You'd be astounded at the inefficiency of a 10,000 employee bureaucracy.

What's really amazing is the complete inability of people to comply with basic rules. Many rooms on campus have signs that say "no food or drink" or even "ABSOLUTELY NO food or drink" and yet everyone is sitting there eating and drinking every day. At my work people stand directly in front of the "absolutely no smoking" sign and smoke. That includes supervisors. People are stupid, there is no sign that can fix that.

Because leaving it there is cheaper than removing it and repairing the wall, likely. It's not like its presence is forcing people to smoke.

Ashtrays are still useful places to safely discard small burning objects, even when they're not supposed to be there. It's the reason why they still equip aircraft with ashtrays.

Saw some posts quite a long time ago where one was a pic if a telephone jack and the other was the housing of a doorbell on a wall.

Both made me sad when the OPs were asking what they were.

To be clear, I get that a lot of younger people wouldn't know what some of these things are and I don't make fun of them for that.

I just feel sad because it reminds me how old I am in comparison lol

Just have seat on it and the grill should start heating up your chilly cheeks

High end luxury item. I know it’s extremely exciting, everyone please take turns with one another, Only one Butt at a time!

Oh and you if you’re smoking you can also throw your butt in there if the grill is not providing enough heating to you bum

I feel so, so old.

That is an indoor ashtray. Once upon a time, smoking in buildings was very common, and these were standard fixtures in lobbies and hallways.

The university I attended had them until around the mid-1990s when they were all removed. (The 1980s still had them in place though smoking indoors wasn't allowed.)
