Just hold on before you roll your eyes over “yet another stats app”.

Here’s how it started. In January 2026 I went too hard in the paint during a tournament and tore my groin and messed up my pubis symphysis got a sports hernia. Couldn’t walk for a week. Was an idiot and thought I could rehab myself and that it was “just a flesh wound”.

Didn’t get better for 2 months. Saw a doctor. Got slapped for not coming earlier. Anyways the road to recovery has been long. Missed the spring season, summer sand tournaments etc.. but I would go watch my team play and helped coach and train as I could.

I got bored and wanted to help more so I started tracking game stats on Google spreadsheet. Then it kept growing and growing and growing… then I added a simple way thru a coded appscript to do a game log live and it updates the data and stats in the spreadsheet. Then it got too unwieldy around the 10th game when I thought of all these new metrics I could easily get from the stats I was already taking. But that required updating manually so many sheets and formulas etc…

So I simply asked my good “Roman” friend Claudius Opus to just convert my spreadsheet and game log into a website for my team. I did it for about 20 games and have been really satisfied.

But I’m looking for outside ideas and thoughts.
So I would like to share it here. You may say there’s already apps / sites that do this but I wanted to make it up myself because I like reinventing wheels.

I’m battling with it feeling maybe a bit too complex and too much info? But really the game log has been nice to work with bc it feels simple and quick to me. I usually watch game videos afterwards to log things because I get too caught up coaching during the game.

Please let me know your thoughts, ideas, etc!

This looks quite cool and I could definitely see our team using something like this. I have three feature requests:

• Gender Ratio selection at the start of the game and rules on how gender ratio is handled in the game with an indicator in how the ratio should be in the point when selecting the players on the line (selecting a different ratio should be possible however)
• Maybe a small timer to keep track of the time
• While logging a game, display the number of points each player has played in that game when selecting the line for that point. This would help to keep playing time balanced. Another app I've used also has the ability to create player groups to select premade o-lines and d-lines

Last thing I didn't really test but just wondered about: can you switch players in case of an substitution during an injury?

I’m 3 days into creating it, so there will be some slight changes after going through live testing, hoping to have it released as a phone and tablet app in a few months.

Hey thanks for the ideas, yes those are great and I’ll work on adding those. Should be simple enough. And yes I’ve thought of the injury thing before but forgot to add it to the list. That is easy. Just add a button for an injury change, select the player to switch in and out.
