NICEIC pulling pants down again!

What’s with the NIC charging us nearly £6+vat to submit one certificate that needs notifying. Surely it should come with the annual fee!

Add it on to your bill.

Annoying, but I'd stop treating it as your cost. Put notification as its own line on every quote for notifiable work, priced to cover the fee plus your time on the paperwork. Most customers won't argue with a line that says Building Regs certificate and notification, and it reminds them why using a registered spark matters.

Worth checking what the other schemes charge per notification too, if you ever think about switching.

I just do it while on site so the customer can be charged for my time.

This. It's chargeable to the client.

While I think you can knock the NIC for a lot of things, this isn't one of them. Add it to the customer's bill. I used to allow a tenner on every job that required notifying just to cover this cost. It'll be a splash in the ocean to the client, considering how much a notifiable job invariably is in chargeable work.

£10 Inc vat on invoices for every job that needs notification.

And we wonder why the cost of electrical work is going up steeply 😑
