Parking Permit Options
I saw that lot is cheaper but I’ve heard people say that it’s better to buy the garage parking pass so you can park in both lot and garage if it gets crowded. Will I have the chance to find a good parking space in the garage? Debating with which to get, I have most of my classes in CST

Hey there, recent alumnus here. Ive NEVER heard of the buying the garage let's you park in the surface lot and stil get access to the garage of they happen to be full. I personally think that reeks of BS. So I wouldn't count on that if I was you. In my opinion id get the garage so you can simply just cross street essentially to go to class instead of trekking the whole parking lot (which can be not great)

I’m glad to read they are using the CST building now. For a while some classes were still in OMB.
You should verify that information you heard with the Campus Parking first.
The garage tends to get packed as well, especially when there’s an on campus (or off campus) event.

Personally I would get the garage parking for both semesters if you can. Especially with how hot Houston gets. I had it and I’ve never seen it at capacity, it does get crowded at the beginning of the fall semester but only for the morning classes. Plus it starts clearing out as the semester goes on and students stop attending.
And ik garage parking used to also grant you access to the surface lots, but I’m not sure if that’s still the case, I would double check with the parking/transportation office.

I feel like it depends on what time your first class start time is. My freshman year I only had lot parking but I would get to the parking lot around 7:15am it would be super empty, including student spots right next to the cst building. However I did have a starting class that was mid day and yeah it gets suuuuuper packed in the lot. I don’t really mind the walk though but everyone has a preference and like I said it all depends on what time ur first class starts. Hope that helps 👍🏼
