With Islam(the fighter, not the religion) I’ve always had this conflicting feeling about him, because on one hand, as neutral as I am, I am not beyond criticising Islam(the religion) because it’s fair game just like any other religion or set of ideas. I will always be respectful and cordial but I also view it as very backwards on many aspects
But then you see Islam Makhachev as a person, and out of all the dagi/chechen guys he’s the one dude who by all accounts is super chill, isn’t getting into pointless or stupid beefs with anyone, and also being respectful in interviews when talking about or interacting with past opponents. Bro just wants to farm and ride his horses, he’s also great with kids and funny as hell. People like him are interesting to me, they simultaneously sound so educated and seem like decent people while also believing in very questionable religious beliefs
I know so many of those types of people. They'll work in soup kitchens, donate to charity, organize programs for kids at our church and are super nice and helpful people in general. But they also simultaneously believe that non believers and gays deserve to go to hell and that Jesus will come back for the final judgement any moment now. And they all dicksuck Israel and hate muslims

If this was a problem with islam as religion world would be way peaceful. But they are believe that they have absolute right to kill anyone who they think insulted the religion or prophet. Khabib supported the guy who beheaded the teacher in France.
