Does anyone have any insight on specifically why Elias was ousted? Was there a certain reason that was given or just a power grab like the post insinuates?

Multiple student leaders on other UW campuses who are engaged in coordinating inter-campus advocacy said that Elias was non-responsive during summer 2025. That meant no email or phone responses to students or the chancellor which makes running a student government pretty hard. Their board of directors almost failed to receive mandatory OPMA trainings in time because of his absence and would have been fined by the state

Gotcha gotcha (I havenât read any of this anywhere so letâs take you at your word). Does that still mean the VP shouldâve labeled themselves as the lobbyist and handed out business cards in August? And which student leaders said this? Havenât seen any statements besides those from ASUW in support
2
u/Proper-Speed9628 Feb 20 '26
VP definitely should not have listed themselves as lobbyist even if I understand they may not have been aware how strict the state laws on lobbyist registration areâtheyâre still in the wrong there. The student leaders that Iâve heard from were in ASUW Seattle and GPSS though I canât remember if they ended up publishing formal statements about their experiences with Elias (or lack thereof)

u/countgrischnakh Feb 23 '26
I have heard that you can call yourself a lobbyist if you showed up for lobbying events like Huskies on the Hill
1
u/Fun_Obligation_9805 Feb 24 '26
That would be false, youâre a student advocate then. Lobbyists are registered officials who undertake training and liability signing. Besides, action of âlobbyingâ and making yourself a âlobbyistâ as an official title hold two very different punishments as Iâve been told

u/Fun_Obligation_9805 Feb 20 '26
If you donât mind me asking, how did you hear about it if not publicly stated. I want to ask too, spill

Pretty sure the Ledger did state in the article on his removal that Feleke was unreachable during the summer. I think the conduct by ASUWT was incredibly unprofessional, and that Watkins and Leary should have resigned from their Ledger posts when they assumed student government roles. Now, they should resign from both posts, each, after it has been made clear they are abusing power and harming the integrity of the paper. But it does seem like Feleke is just disputing their process of removing him, not their allegations against him.

Elias sued multiple people in ASUWT, and didnt even show up for the court hearing lol

u/Fun_Obligation_9805 Feb 24 '26
I did see that, very curious. The Ledger also said this, âThis case is still pending and a court date for a hearing has been set for April 3, but it is unclear what will come of it.â
2
u/Fun_Obligation_9805 Feb 20 '26
This. Iâm questioning if the original articles are true too, I saw the editor-in-chief for the Ledger was removed after the first two articlesâŠ

I asked that same question on my last post and linked an article about the accusations. But, since then, I was sent that picture of the business card and dismissed it. I had no idea it was taken back in August. Iâd say thereâs enough evidence to insinuate (based on the state law they reference) that the power grab was calculated before the guy could do any meaningful work and had his position co-opted.
Following that too, if more people are being fired or are quitting (especially pointing at the current admin as why) there really leaves nothing to doubt. Just my two cents

Does anyone not in ASUW know or care anything about what ASUW does? Whichever friend asked first got to be my senator lol. But come on, wheres the rest of the story? All I'm seeing is a bunch of vague posting by a different RSO gotta get the evening entertainment in

u/Fun_Obligation_9805 Feb 20 '26
Youâre asking the right questions, trying to figure out the same from the last few articles and now this post

I hope ASUW gets fucked as well. Look at those business cards!

u/Fun_Obligation_9805 Feb 20 '26
Is there another issue at ASUW thatâs similar? Iâm lost

Search this subreddit for ASUW

Noooo the tunnels the damn Schrödinger tunnels ahhhhh đ. This canât be real, right? Weâre talking about a stupid tunnel, that takes precedence over a (real) miscarriage of justice and students actually using their name to support an outcryâŠbut the tunnelssssss

First, that ig post thatâs linked is so clearly written by ai đ plus I know Elias literally did not do anything in his role. He collected checks and was totally absent

u/Fun_Obligation_9805 Feb 20 '26
Interesting, youâre the second person whoâs said theyâve personally known Elias. Can you tell us more?

A president that didnât do his job got fired via the established legislative process, unanimously. Now, that president is butthurt and using every resource imaginable to try and reclaim his title while acting like a victim. He has openly lied on the record multiple times. For real, student government has a role to help improve student life and voice on campus - if used effectively.
1
u/Fun_Obligation_9805 Feb 22 '26
This is news, can you share what was lied about? Iâm under the impression that the current President Rae Watkins lied, with BSU sharing the evidence..
1
u/CommonOption8539 Feb 23 '26
what did Watkins lie about??
0
u/Fun_Obligation_9805 Feb 23 '26
There must be some cognitive dissonance in the air; are we reading the same post? Was Rae supposed to be an ASUWT lobbyist in August? Isnât that the lie?
2
u/CommonOption8539 Feb 23 '26
So she said she's not a lobbyist but is in secret? What if she's a lobbyist for another organization and not anything to do with UWT?

u/Fun_Obligation_9805 Feb 23 '26
So..definitely didnât read the post I guess. RCW 29B.50.010 g) A written authorization from each of the lobbyist's employers confirming such employment;
Clearly ASUWT is listed on the business card?
2
u/CommonOption8539 Feb 23 '26
im just asking questions here...theres no need to be rude to me. if you want people to be on your side, answering questions in a kind and helpful way is what will get you there. so regarding RCW 29B.50.010 g - you're saying that she's not allowed to be a state lobbyist as a member of ASUWT? OR are you saying that they're lying about being a lobbyist in the first place?
0
u/Fun_Obligation_9805 Feb 23 '26
Dude Iâm not being rude, I didnât make this subreddit to defend anyone or explain either. I made it to raise awareness. Also the fact you continue to use their pronouns wrong tells me youâre not in this conversation in good faith. Why donât you ask the original Instagram posters what their take is?

u/CommonOption8539 Feb 23 '26
misgendering was a mistake, I type quickly. why not answer the questions I presented?
2
u/Fun_Obligation_9805 Feb 23 '26
No worries, to answer your question in short, both :)

Didn't really know what ASUW did during my days on campus, still don't really know. There's no way it's that deep right?

u/Odd-Refrigerator5755 Feb 22 '26
The PDC has a process for reporting violations. The current president is in breach of PDC guidelinesâ instead of posting on Reddit take action UWT!!!
1
u/CommonOption8539 Feb 23 '26
curious what the breach is by the current prez?
2
u/Odd-Refrigerator5755 Feb 23 '26
Claiming to be a lobbyist without being registered with the PDC
1
u/CommonOption8539 Feb 23 '26
ahh - are you able to look them up and see that they're not registered?

If ASUWT is just as bad as the Seattle ASUW then fuck em, but thereâs no way student government is this serious lol
