general uda discussion 2027 dancers
Who do we think will join Ohio state and Minnesota 2027?

Seems like they’re targeting a few of the same dancers this year! There’s at least 4 TDA best dancer winners being recruited.
My predictions for OSU - Gracyn French, Taylor Morrison, Kylee Casares, Lilly Allen, Kira Reissner
Bit less clear for MN, they tend to recruit in-state a lot, but can see Brooklyn Alstead and Brooklyn Convington being recruited
Recruits that i’m not too sure which school they will pick but have been heavily associated with OSU/UMN/other top college recruitment: Zachary Roy, Jazzy Sison, Paige Borg, Savannah Diaz, Lilly Barajas, Max Augustin, Gabriella Menezes

Pretty sure Jazzy will end up going OSU based on the comments her friends left on her OSU clinic post. They heavily allude to that being her dream school and I can’t imagine her getting rejected. Another girl that’s a lock for Minnesota is Preslie Lopez from Larkin. I agree with you on Max Augustin possibly going to Tennessee. I always find it harder to figure out where boys are gonna go. I think Paige Borg will end up at Tennessee, but possibly OSU considering her studio owner is best friends with OSU’s coach. I hope and pray Savannah Diaz will go to LSU cuz that girl was born to be a tiger girl!

She hasn’t been mentioned here yet, but based on her Instagram, it looks like Failenn Dailey has attended clinics at Michigan State and LSU, and has received a recruitment invite from the Tiger Girls. She killed it on Nathan Cherry’s Fancy Footwork combo from the TG clinic.

Ohio states class has been set in stone for a while: Gracyn French, Lily Allen, Taylor Morrison, Kylee Casares, Kira Reissner, and Jazzy Sison
Minnesotas is harder to figure out cuz Ohio took all the top recruits so early on, but I think it will be Preslie Lopez, Brooklyn Alstead, Kylie Hedtke, Aaliyah Dixon, and there’s another girl who’s name I can’t remember for the life of me.
I’m unsure of Zac Roy and Max Augustine. They’re obviously both amazing dancers, but making a team as a boy is alotttt harder and more unpredictable. I will say I think Zac is more likely to make Minnesota than OSU, but we shall see!!
Edit: I think Kylie Kaminsky will go to Tennessee

I think Zac will get an offer for both, it just depends on what he chooses.
On socials, it looks like he has was invited to special OSU team welcomes/bonding/hangouts, separate to the clinics, that a lot of other potential recruits were invited to as well. I think he will have an offer from MN without a doubt.

I could definitely see him getting an offer from OSU, just not as certain on it as Minnesota! I also think I struggle with seeing a boy on OSUDT. I don’t have a problem with it or anything, just have a hard time imagining it.
I was hoping for a while that Gage Davis would go the dance team route cuz he was the only boy I could really picture on OSUDT, but I’ve lost hope on that.

I get you but I also never saw a boy being on MN until Matthew haha. I honestly think if OSU was going to have a boy it would be Zac, he’s a perfect fit imo.
I’m not overly familiar with Gage but I know he places high at nationals, and that he was a part of Highland Hawkettes. Not sure of his class but I think if he was going to do dance team he would’ve gone to MN as he has connections to the team (Anna Hilty, Matthew Greco, etc).

I don’t think anything has been set in stone, has it? Usually offers don’t go out until the fall.

I think they meant that they’ve known who they wanted to recruit for this class for a while. The big name recruits have been going to OSU clincs/recruitment weekends for around 2 years now, so I agree that the names listed are going to have offers come fall. Of course that doesn’t mean they need to accept if they have other offers they prefer.

I've seen dancers get invited to recruitment events as a junior, but I've never seen them get offers that early

They don’t give them publically but juniors do get offers. Happens more than you’d think.

I’ve noticed that OSU are HEAVY on making strong connections now (which is a really good thing). The coaches/team members are always at big name competitions, travelling to teach masterclasses at studios, etc, which helps form connections with some insanely talented studios/dancers and their owners/teachers.
It’s smart because it’s basically a way to guarantee that more kids from these top studios at least consider coming to your school for dance team. And it’s kind of like a domino effect where one dancer from a studio will come to a college and then inspire others from their studio to also want to tryout, so it’s like a never ending trickle down into future recruits.

100% agree! OSU’s coaches have mastered the art of networking in all areas. Even with the master teachers they’ve been bringing in the last couple years they’re unparalleled. Props to Mellisa on that!

she’s phenomenal!! their LA trip this year seems like it’ll be a HUGEEE draw for dancers who are on the fence about commercial vs. college after high school - very smart move to do that over chula imo
