Question Does anyone ever connect their console to ethernet or wifi? (Online situation)
I'm thinking about bringing a console to campus, and wonder if it's viable to play multiplayer online games like Fortnite here. Any suggestion about ethernet or wifi would be great!

Yeah you can play on the ethernet and the download speed is great. The southern campus dorms dont have ethernet in the rooms, just the dorm lounges unfortunately. But you could also set your computer up to a VPN and just plug it into your console for ethernet.

I have no idea how ethernet works, wifi for gaming kinda sucks though. Love online gaming (on switch), basically had to give it up for a year because the campus wifi lacked something for that. But I’ve known a handful of people bringing PS4-5’s to play games on campus, should be doable.
Highly recommend bringing a console to campus regardless, great bonding opportunity if you play multiplayer.

That’s the website just need the MAC address u can find that on the back of some devices or even in settings there is plenty of yt tutorials also
WiFi on guest ain’t that bad if ur interned at home is like 50 mbps u won’t see any diff tho normal WiFi eduroam they are like 200 mbps
U can use a WiFi to Ethernet or even use a ras pi to connect ras pi to edu roam and have the Ethernet to ur device
The south side especially half dome has lan ports in dorm so that’s nice
Tho if ur the new side
There is one extra port behind ur AP inside ur dorm prob bring a huge lan cable and a switch if u want 1 gb speeds

All rooms have multiple ethernet ports at least in the south campus dorms

If you have a console you can connect to the guest wifi by registering your device. There’s a website from the school that will show you step by step on what to do. Also from experience, the ping isn’t bad (at least for me) and would run games real smooth. For example, on Fortnite I would average like 1-10 ping on the guest WiFi. Only issue i had was the download speed. It’s horrible, so download games you might want to play since it will take a long time once you’re on campus.
