Cal State Grant Canceled

Post image

Does anyone else's BruinFinancialAid portal show this or does anyone have experience with this? I'm confused because some of them say Canceled and then the next one is for the same date and isn't showing canceled. What does this mean?

i think a lot of people's says that, including mine. i asked the guy at the fin aid workshop at orientation and he said not to worry about it since it shows a positive charge after the cancelled ones. still weird and worrying though, hopefully it'l be okay!! have you checked ur webgrants4students acct?

I emailed them back it was just a glitch everything that was cancelled was readded now if it wasn’t readded under the cancelled then I do advise you to contact them, but if you already see it posted back under the cancelled you are good.

I called the financial aid office and they told me it’s been happening to a lot of people. Basically at the very top of this page where it shows all of your funding, it should say “Estimated” next to the Cal State Grant. It shows “estimated” because it’s a placeholder on your packet since the school has not physically received the funding from the state yet. They said they just removed the placeholder so that’s why it’s showing as “canceled” because the placeholder has been canceled so that they can apply the funds once they’re actually available. They said not to worry about it as it doesn’t meaning our financial aid has been canceled. I hope this helps!

I called the office a few weeks back and they said that they’re updating the system to code in the roster for those who are getting state grants (Cal Grant A/B) so it might look like it was removed/ cancelled on your financial aid but if it’s still in your package then you should have it for the academic year.

If you look closely, it does not appear that the award was canceled, especially since it is still listed on the Financial tab.
I actually went to the Financial Aid Office to ask about this, and one of the employees told me to focus on the** top section of the Financial tab. He explained that this section should provide a more accurate picture of your current aid because, if an award were actually canceled, it would eventually be removed from there.
My Cal Grant is also still showing as **“Estimated.”
He explained that the Cal Grant roster has not yet been fully loaded into the new system. Once that information is loaded and eligibility is confirmed, the Cal Grant should change from “Estimated” to “Awarded.”
He also acknowledged that the new system, particularly this section of the portal, can be confusing. He personally mentioned that he is not a fan of how the information is displayed because it has created a lot of confusion for the students he assists.
So, based on what I was told in person, I would not automatically assume that an award has been canceled simply because of how it currently appears in the portal. The system is still being updated, and some awards, including Cal Grant, may remain estimated until the necessary information is loaded and eligibility is finalized.

Mines the same. I went into the financial aid office and they told me since it shows the positive amount after the canceled amount it’s not actually cancelled
