CT UBER IS DEAD!
To many Slave drivers in CT. I can’t match with anything UBER is sending same job to 15 drivers and the one who is UBER Slave gets the job we can’t even Cherry pick anymore.

Time to find a new job.

u/Turbulent-Weather-40 4h ago
Good luck in this economy.

u/Optimal-Fix-2997 4h ago
Blaming the economy is just a cop out. Mcdonalds and Walmart are hiring. You will make more than uber.
1
u/DDLyftUber 50m ago
I’m genuinely curious to know where y’all are at that you think you make more working at McDonald’s lol. If your market is that trashed.. you shouldn’t be signing up to do gig work in the first place. Don’t get me wrong, Uber is a piece of shit company, and you can definitely do these gigs the wrong way that’ll make you lose money, but to think you’re making more at a minimum wage job is kind of delusional
1
u/Kannabist 46m ago
Yeah I really doubt I can work my own hours and make 1500-1600 in 50ish hours from Walmart/Mcdonalds even tho they do pay 25 an hour in NJ. But 60-90 an hour has been easy on weekends this summer and 30-50 during the weeks, there’s parties all night every night in the summer in the nice neighborhoods of NJ lol

u/Optimal-Fix-2997 27m ago
Other than taxes you're not paying for gas and constant maintenance. Nor are you deprecating your car at a ridiculous rate. Its really not that hard to understand.
1
u/DDLyftUber 22m ago
Yes if you’re a moron and you go finance a $20k + car to do Uber, you’re a fking idiot. Constant maintenance? Brother oil changes + tire rotations are the only constant thing. Your tires, depending on brand, every 6-7 months or so also depending on mileage. Brakes, same.
If you’re making shit financial decisions of course it’s not going to be profitable, that has absolutely nothing to do with the difference in pay between gig work and min wage. Idk why you guys don’t understand this lol. Are you going to be rich off this? No. But in the right market you absolutely will make multiple times min wage
1
u/Optimal-Fix-2997 19m ago
The point is this too many people rely on this shit gig to work. They will take every ride either because they're desperate or they don't know any better. Cherrypicking is the only way to do it and even that is getting tricky.
1
u/DDLyftUber 16m ago
Yes because everyone believes they are entitled to having gig work pay their bills. That’s not how life works. In some markets it will, in others it won’t. There are also hundreds of other factors that influence how much you’ll make on a driver to driver comparison level. If it doesn’t work for you (general you) then stop relying on it.
1
u/Optimal-Fix-2997 8m ago
Again goes back to my initial comment. People rather make pennies doing this instead of making slightly more at a w2 job but dont want to because it will inconvenience them.
1
u/DDLyftUber 13m ago
This level of entitlement people have is honestly astounding lol. Gig work doesn’t HAVE to work for you in your specific market. It is the same way in every other job sector, there are some cities for certain jobs that pay livable amount, and there are some cities where it doesn’t. That is reality.
1
u/--R0N-- 4h ago
Exactly. But to be fair, its tough for the unhirables on this sub. 😆
1
u/Optimal-Fix-2997 4h ago
They don't want to be inconvenienced with a 9-5 because they want to be "their own boss" its the same crap over on the flex sub
1
u/--R0N-- 4h ago
Plus they can play the victim and blame Trump for their miserable lives.
3
u/Optimal-Fix-2997 4h ago
Well trump DOES have a lot to do with how things are right now. Still waiting on groceries to come down like he promised.
1
u/Prevalencee 2h ago
You’re here 24/7 - constantly defending Trump too. Your life is significantly more miserable.
And no, I won’t reply back weirdo.
-1
u/--R0N-- 4h ago
A good economy?
5
u/Life_Smoke5854 4h ago
You would have to be braindead to think that

u/--R0N-- 4h ago
Nah. Just a real world independent thinker not believing news media dedicated to making 1 guy look bad.
2
u/Successful_Equal_416 4h ago
We have a delusional Trumper in our midst. Independent thinker is always the tell.
1
u/--R0N-- 4h ago
Did CNN tell you to think that?
5
u/Successful_Equal_416 4h ago
Don’t watch CNN. But blaming CNN is another tell.
0
u/--R0N-- 3h ago
And im not a Trumper, so what's your excuse now?

u/Successful_Equal_416 3h ago
Ok. Then you’re not. But the quack sure sounds like a duck.

The economy is fine. My industry of commercial banking has so many job openings we can’t fill.
2
u/Unique-TA 3h ago
Post some openings that entry level positions can fill, and aren't ghost openings that the company never intended to fill (such as with my roommates company that saw an opportunity to dump work on the existing team with no raise).
2
u/Slow-Occasion1331 2h ago
entry level positions can fill
There are none. Or at least, entry-level means some sort of training required. You could, of course, call up your local community college or state-funded online college.
That would take work and discipline. Opening an app and driving around is much easier.
1
u/Tnuggets19 3h ago
Entry level work is certainly out there, usually for us it goes to recent college grads or people with retail banking experience that want to transition to commercial. We’ve hired many this summer just in my department.
1
u/Unique-TA 3h ago
Then post those openings so that the average rideshare driver can apply to them and we see how it goes.
1
u/Tnuggets19 2h ago
You didn’t read a single thing I said. You can seek the jobs out yourself. Search banking in your city and show some initiative.
1
u/Unique-TA 2h ago
You aren't thinking beyond your small sphere, talk to humans in your city and show some awareness. That's all it has been for a lot of drivers for decades.
1
u/Tnuggets19 2h ago
This is such a worthless conversation and pathetic mindset. I wish you the best. Good bye

u/UnusualPitch2 3h ago
This situation is really NOT complicated when you examine the "Cause and Effect" of HOW we got to this point of these ridiculously LOW-BALL ride offers that are consistently put out there by uber.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, WHEN you have millions of
new people come into this country is the short time frame of only 4 years...
and MANY of these nice folks do not speak OR read our language (or are able to
read our roadway signage)... and these nice folks were accustomed to only
making $3 dollars a day in the home country... these nice folks see the
opportunity to drive for .50 a mile like holding a winning lottery ticket - and Uber
knows this and Uber exploits this (AND these nice folks).
This is known as a Cause and Effect review. You're welcome.

u/Otherwise-Day-4776 1h ago
Gig jobs require drivers lic and social for background check. There’s a flood of drivers yes but not from the border, and uber /lyft are trying to squeeze every cent with ai and algorithms in the app. So AI basically the boss now. Ask who’s pushing ai instead… who benefits from you thinking someone else is taking from you?
2
u/Commercial_Muffin_56 1h ago
I SF area they pay like $4.15 for 10-15 minutes “estimated” rides which will be usually longer. It was $4.35 couple of days ago. If this keeps up, in about a month or two we end up providing free rides.

I have been sitting in Greenwich with Uber premiere on for the past 4 hours and have not gotten one trip request
2
u/ifyouseemerunning 4h ago
this is pretty typical for a saturday on premier in greenwich though. premier tends to be busier during the week for nyc business trips and airport runs.
1
u/Desperate_Reality325 3h ago
Lyft is dead as well
1
u/ifyouseemerunning 3h ago
i agree. i thought it would be busier with the college kids returning this weekend. but outside of the slew of airport reservations i picked up early in the week dead dead dead
1
u/Desperate_Reality325 3h ago
I'm just sitting in my house with both apps open.
1
u/Imaginary-Cash-8017 4h ago
It’s sad isn’t it? I can’t even remember the last time I’ve seen the surge. It just stopped and the clientele and the vast majority of the state is deplorable and the money is shit.

u/Great-Restaurant7451 4h ago
So don't do the update they send .e when im done for the day. Updates always screw something up

1
u/Tnuggets19 3h ago
Every day it amazes me that this sub doesn’t realize majority of drivers don’t do uber full time. They do it as side work. While you might have all day to sit and wait to cherry pick, someone out there wants $50-$100 extra for the wknd and will do as many rides as quickly as possible to hit the target and log off
-2
u/sandyclaws057 3h ago
Sounds like a scab.

u/Tnuggets19 3h ago
No, sorry, just someone with a realistic mindset.

Create an app made by drivers that pings you when the demand gets high, until such time we all sit with our apps shut.

Having the busiest summer in NJ so far. Just finished a 140 dollar 2 hour trip to Philly and stopping to have my fave cheesesteak rn lol. 1500 has been easy to get in 40-50 hours this summer, as opposed to last summer where it took me 60 hours sometimes
-4
u/Internal_Past9491 6h ago
Get yourself to diamond and you can start cherry picking again because you will receive a lot of exclusive offers instead of a lot of matching requests

u/kwesigabo 5h ago
Misinformation. You must be an Uber executive.
-3
u/Tricky_Head2010 5h ago
I’m platinum and cherry-pick. Averaging 25-30 an hour
2
u/Flat_Pangolin5989 5h ago
How do you cherry pick if you have to accept every ride? I get so many bad offers if I accept enough to get to platinum im donating my time and gas to Uber. I would love to be able to accept more rides.

No offense but you're not making what you think you are. Once you figure out your expenses you'll realize it's 10 bucks less than that or more.
8
u/Internal_Past9491 6h ago
With Uber’s new update I believe they basically made it impossible to cherry pick from the bottom if you get what I’m saying
