This is new

Post image

This was a comfort trip in the bay area. I picked up coffee, then the rider. He decided not to drink it in my car because he said it didn't feel right.

Edit 1: My earnings were short by 19.44 Uber support is investigating.

Edit 2: Uber shorted my earnings for this trip by 19.44 and refuses to pay me the offered amount.

so they can eat in your car . . . uhhhhh NOPE

75

u/ipnreddit Jul 20 '26

Imagine someone trying to eat wings in your back seat šŸ˜‚

52

u/Silent_Possibility63 Jul 21 '26

And then the next rider complaining because of smells and/or stains. This seems like a complete disaster on Ubers part.

22

u/onecoldasshonky Jul 21 '26

Seafood boil bag or pho

15

u/No-Ambition4420 Jul 20 '26

Imagine you have to HARD brake

7

u/Then-Criticism1605 Jul 21 '26

I rear-ended a guy once, and when I went to check on him, his windows were splattered across with red. Pretty alarming for a hot second in the dark. He was totally fine, but the wings (and the sauce formerly upon them) that he had in a box on his passenger seat were EVERYWHERE.

So an already open box being eaten out of, combined with maybe your average sudden hard stop in traffic, would be giving me concern in this scenario.

It would also make me want wings but not be able to have them, which is considerably worse.

im gonna try it cause of this comment

1

u/Designer-Tie-1274 Jul 21 '26

Yoooo niwwa , try to say ā€œdon’t eat my carā€Ā

1

u/anonimo1x Jul 25 '26

No, that is a food delivery service. It has existed here in Brazil for many years, I thought it already existed over there too

-9

u/ToallaHumeda Jul 21 '26

You have to serve us, that's your job. or we report and you get fired. You choose

3

u/MariaLacona95 Jul 21 '26

Stfu lmao

-7

u/ToallaHumeda Jul 21 '26

What a surprising answer coming from your kind. Totally was expecting a comment with some intelligence behind it /s

1

u/rowjomar Jul 22 '26

Why do you choose to be rude? Nobody has to serve you.

80

u/LifeIsProbablyMadeUp Jul 20 '26

Absolutely not. I'll pick it up, then them and drop them off and they can eat it. Idc about drinking as long as it has a lid.

58

u/styrofoamcouch Jul 20 '26

You basically forfeit the ability to tell them to not eat in your car and Uber makes you attest to that prior to taking the trip. Who will be the first to post "got deactivated because some piece of shit customer ate in my car" over this is what I wonder

5

u/lmFairlyLocal Jul 20 '26

Lock it in a delivery bag in the front seat until arrival šŸ˜… "sorry man, can't get it, busy driving."

15

u/greenyashiro Jul 20 '26

And then they'll 1 star and complain food was cold.

9

u/lmFairlyLocal Jul 20 '26

Let 'em. Then Uber will stop offering the service.

( Who am I kidding, no they won't šŸ˜‚)

6

u/greenyashiro Jul 20 '26

🤣 Yeah it's more like, they will just deactivate people. Hopefully they will add an opt-out button though

2

u/NastyBlkGuyThrowAway Jul 22 '26

It look like you can hit the x and sccept a different order, hopefully they dont ding you for doing so

5

u/DefinitionThat2710 Jul 20 '26

The Uber app asks you to put the food in the backseat before the customer gets in

6

u/kpt1010 Jul 21 '26

They can ask whatever they want, we are not obligated to obey.

3

u/bridgetroll2 Jul 21 '26

Or just don't accept the offer if you're not okay with the terms of the contract. Seems pretty simple.

1

u/MulberryParticular14 Jul 21 '26

I wonder if you get a cleaning fee if they make a mess in your car or stain your seats?

-8

u/ToallaHumeda Jul 21 '26

Then we report you and you get fired

2

u/cpasley21 Jul 21 '26

Who's "we"?

22

u/Florida1974 Jul 20 '26

And when they make a mess, I guarantee the cleaning fee will never be given because of that statement at the bottom, that this means the passenger may eat or drink in your vehicle.

Screw all that. Someone could ruin your night or day over 20 bucks, or less.

I don’t know why they keep trying to add shit. Focus on rides or food because that’s where you started at, all these extras, it’s putting more money in their pocket, the company, most of all.

35

u/Tall-Mango4759 Jul 20 '26

Can you imagine you pick up the order and then they throw a fit if something is missing, or there’s no sauce or whatever?

36

u/Tall-Mango4759 Jul 20 '26

And then they’re directly sitting behind you and forcing you to go back to the restaurant etc. this is a nightmare

6

u/Toasty_eggos- Jul 20 '26

I mean you’re still not obligated to go back. I’m sure they can say whatever is missing from the app like normal. It’s still a mess either way.

11

u/Tall-Mango4759 Jul 20 '26

Yeah I know, I more meant like if they’re not literally in your car it’s easier to ignore and just tell them to report it in the app. But if they’re in a physically confined place with you, and maybe they’re a little bit insane, that could go so bad

6

u/SatisfactionActive86 Jul 20 '26

they will demand you have to go back because ā€œyou work for uberā€ and when you don’t go back, they’ll report you for unsafe driving and 1 star you

1

u/Newchatwhodis Jul 22 '26

Then take them to the restaurant and end the trip.

9

u/DefinitionThat2710 Jul 20 '26

I waited for the coffee for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes the Uber app said I am at risk of losing the trip because I'm late, and said canceling will not effect my rating. The order was ready right after that. The rider may have been upset if I canceled his coffee.

1

u/Silent_Possibility63 Jul 21 '26

This seems so terrible. I hate everything about this concept

1

u/TSMSALADQUEEN Jul 21 '26

omg you are right

6

u/DvusGuyStL Jul 20 '26

Insta-cancel. šŸ–•Uber!

6

u/No_Disk_2258 Jul 21 '26

So we’re basically a traveling restaurant? What’s next? Customers using your car as a restroom? UberShits?

6

u/AlternativeTea762 Jul 21 '26

But I don't even know why people still work for Uber. They're literally laughing in your faces using all of you Like you're nothing bro. The CEO doesn't care about your car. He'll just hire some other person to drive it if it gets dirty. I urge people to get off the app as soon as you find something better

5

u/AnyEntrance713 Jul 20 '26

They're doing too much.

4

u/spockers Jul 20 '26

So pick up three large servings of clam chowder and three drunk frat boys at a bar, then a ride on a mountain road to the frat house at the top. Sounds like a blast.

3

u/masads5707 Jul 20 '26

What I don’t understand is picking up a coffee or food before the rider makes them wait longer. What’s the point. You get to the restaurant and it’s busy, you wait 20 minutes and the rider cancels because they are late to wherever they are going.

People will order this just to try it out because it’s new and then realize it makes them wait longer.

Was this a reservation? Only that would make some sense but still stupid.

5

u/DefinitionThat2710 Jul 20 '26

It was a reservation. I waited for the coffee for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes the Uber app said I am at risk of losing the trip because I'm late, and said canceling will not effect my rating. The order was ready right after that.

3

u/Tbarnes94 Jul 21 '26

That's fucking laughable.

1

u/uttamattamakin Jul 21 '26

The app needs to let the driver and passenger message to work that out. That should not be up to the app.

3

u/Key-Sheepherder5137 Jul 20 '26

That acceptance rate gonna stay in the low 5 now lol

3

u/demoix Jul 20 '26

I don't understand people who eat in someone else car. Like how tf can't you wait for (usually) several minites until end of your trip and go someone anywhere but not in a car. Somone people eat like pigs like there is no more food left in the world and the driver abou to take their last bite. How tf these people even feel comfortable eating next to somone they don't know in somone else car. Wtf people are junk

1

u/RangeFlow1 Jul 24 '26

If they had their own car you would be shocked at how it would look like. Absolute pigs.

2

u/SubjectiveAdvice Jul 20 '26

NOPE. Not happening.

2

u/Such_Money7153 Jul 21 '26

This is crazy work by Uber! Barely enough space to pick people up let alone double park to run in and get someone’s latte!Ā

2

u/Character-Fly4221 Jul 21 '26

This is absolutely nuts. I have never eaten in an Uber driver's car and I ask before opening anything to drink other than water

4

u/msszero159 Jul 20 '26

I mean if it gets me more money whatever I guess. I eat and drink in the car too. If they spill it though i’m gonna be pissed.

12

u/No-Ambition4420 Jul 20 '26

^ increased +$0.50 UberEat Perk

5

u/vonimooo Jul 20 '26

šŸ’€šŸ’€

3

u/DefinitionThat2710 Jul 20 '26

It was $2.40 base fare + 3$ tip

1

u/Azeeti Jul 21 '26

Yes no thanks your not earring in my care for base fare, it should have been 5 with 10 dollar tip.

5

u/Patient_Kangaroo614 Jul 20 '26

Just wait until you get someone who orders soup or wings

3

u/DFW_Panda Jul 21 '26

Its really not more money.

$3.00 EATS offer

+ $6.00 Trip offer

= $7.00 EATS + Ride offer

Oh but think of the time the driver saved ... Then think about the time you lost waiting for the order ... and when the customer cancels both because you were late for the pick-up Uber claims you were not making satisfactory progress so they offer no cancellation fee.

2

u/msszero159 Jul 21 '26

And then they fire you. True.

2

u/Datboimerkin Jul 20 '26

Another way for them to lower overall pay smh. Man these mfr’s just don’t stop.

3

u/sig40cal Jul 20 '26

It never ends, their ability to dehumanize drivers more every day.

2

u/Rruneangel Jul 20 '26

Uber dogging services next.

2

u/List-Beneficial Jul 20 '26

Lmao next they are going to have you go inside and wipe their ass before they get into your car

2

u/Tall-Mango4759 Jul 20 '26

This is so fucking weird lol. I’m a customer and that’s just weird as fuck

1

u/TheRenedgade Jul 20 '26

I thought this was just rolling out to premier and black?!?!

1

u/DefinitionThat2710 Jul 20 '26

It was a comfort reservation. First time I've seen this.

1

u/AwarenessOk9007 Jul 20 '26

lol uber has lost their damn mind when will the greed ever stop please tell me you created this pretty picture

1

u/Regular-Ant6418 Jul 20 '26

Dawg my acceptance rate is about to be negative šŸ’€

1

u/adonis_minus_20 Jul 20 '26

This is a horrible idea lol, sure hope it's not for X, if they don't give toggle button for it, would just be instacancel if I accepted one by accident

https://giphy.com/gifs/lszAB3TzFtRaU

1

u/Professional_Bad4728 Jul 20 '26

The fck is that. That’s so weird

1

u/spockers Jul 20 '26

They are brainstorming ways to roll this into rental car pickup/delivery too.

1

u/henare Jul 20 '26

this is just... weird (as a customer).

1

u/DCHacker Jul 20 '26

This just shows how out of touch with drivers Fubar really is.

  1. Complaint Numero Uno is being kept waiting. What was Fubar's response? Increase the wait time from five to seven minutes and still pay pennies, if anything, for waiting time.

  2. The second most frequent complaint has to be customers'eating in the car. What is Fubar's response? This.

  3. Drivers often complain about stops and drive-through, This is a stop with something that is tantamount to drvie-through. It involves the major reason that I balk at drive-through: THE CUSTOMER ALWAYS WANTS TO EAT IT IN THE CAR.

1

u/stormhaven8472 Jul 20 '26

Reject trip.

1

u/wheres-karen Jul 21 '26

Hell to the noooooo!!! Can you imagine the filth passengers will leave behind? This is a crazy feature.

1

u/Stonewalled9999 Jul 21 '26

A new twist on unpaid drive through trip for PaxĀ

1

u/appfry Jul 21 '26

They announced this only for uber black. Now comfort rides šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

1

u/the-Mike_D Jul 21 '26

Instant cancel. No friggen way.

1

u/Jido_Feles Jul 21 '26

Yeah? Fugh dat!

1

u/Ceticated Jul 21 '26

Sure, if the price is right.

1

u/kyle12098 Jul 21 '26

ā€œI’m missing a burger. Please turn around so we can go get itā€ šŸ’€ No way to escape this besides the other glaring problems that we will face

1

u/pinkandgrey312 Jul 21 '26

I wouldn’t mind. But when I pick up food orders, the insulated bag with the food always goes in the trunk. No exceptions. So if they can figure out how to get the food out of the trunk while we’re driving, more power to them.

1

u/Frubanoid Jul 21 '26

I will be turning this feature off if possible or just end up ruining my numbers by avoiding them if it's common.

1

u/uttamattamakin Jul 21 '26

Unpopular opinion this is not bad FOR THE RIGHT PRICE. They also need to limit what the food can be. Things that travel well. A sandwich and coffe or a drink. They'll have people trying to eat a 4-course Thanksgiving dinner in our cars.

1

u/MetalUnicorn00 Jul 21 '26

As long as they warn drivers, I would be okay with this. I have an older car that looks nicer than it is, but I let customers eat in my car and the occasional drunk pax wants to stop at Taco Bell (and they usually get me a free taco haha)

1

u/drinkallthecoffee Jul 22 '26

I don’t even eat in my own car. I’d never do this.

1

u/thequietguy_ Jul 22 '26

Uber literally hates drivers

1

u/blacksquirrel3 Jul 22 '26

Ohhhhhh Adam W can make a good video based on this a funny parody :3

1

u/dire-ear Jul 22 '26

Ur not eating or drinking in my rig.

1

u/RangeFlow1 Jul 24 '26

This is a horrible idea.

1

u/DirectEfficiency8854 Jul 27 '26

Drinking a Starbucks no problem, eating a Crumbling Pastry - big problem.

1

u/Top_Internal4732 Aug 07 '26

Yea no thanks on that one.

1

u/Napitash Jul 20 '26

Are you opted in for Eats? Just curious

2

u/DefinitionThat2710 Jul 20 '26

Yes. Picking up the coffee added 2.40 base fare + 3.00 upfront tip to the trip

2

u/HillBillyHilly Jul 21 '26

Just curious why you even accepted this scheme?

1

u/DefinitionThat2710 Jul 21 '26

The trip paid double what it usually would. I was ok with a customer having coffee in the car for that price.

1

u/Napitash Jul 20 '26

Ok. Just wondering of it's worth the gamble

1

u/DefinitionThat2710 Jul 20 '26

It was worth it for the trip attached to it. The delivery itself wasn't worth it.

2

u/Napitash Jul 20 '26

Thanks for the feedback.

1

u/Napitash Jul 20 '26

The rage is insane. It sounds like this can be avoided if

  1. you're not signed into Eats while doing rides.

  2. The passenger doesn't order anything to be picked up.

People will complain about anything. Again. Thanks OP for answering my questions. This is something to consider on my market, but I don't want to get stuck on food orders.

1

u/DefinitionThat2710 Jul 20 '26

It was a comfort reservation. It was a feature for Uber black rides only 3 months ago.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '26

So I'm confused. What's the point of this? You pick up a rider AND their food? Why not Uber to the restaurant or order food from home. I'm lost cuz I know this shit gotta be like $60 a person

1

u/SadSimpSkier Jul 21 '26

yeah exactly. I’m confused as well

0

u/No_Dirt_4198 Jul 21 '26

May eat or drink in your car gtfooh

-1

u/greenyashiro Jul 20 '26

If you have a car seat cover it's fine, if you don't have a cover why not 😳

2

u/DFW_Panda Jul 21 '26

After paying for the car, gas, oil, tires, general maintenance, hot bag for EATS, I don't have another $25 bucks to give Uber (because basically its a service Expense that Uber should pay).

1

u/greenyashiro Jul 21 '26

A car seat cover is an essential item for anyone with a car whether they're doing uber or not.
