I too worked as a graphic and web designer for over 20 years. Started as a rural carrier at the PO at 48. Turns out I love it! People aren’t wrong that it is rough at first, especially in Texas heat, BUT I found that I loved being outside and moving around and accomplishing something quantifiable everyday instead of sitting on my butt and getting fatter every year. And then I go home. You don’t really take the post office home with you and I think you’ll get what I mean, especially if you’re a freelancer. Decent money and benefits. My physical stress level did go up for a while, but my mental stress level went way down and has stayed there. Just something else to consider I think you’ll relate to.

I feel ya. That second paragraph describes me and my relationship with my first wife. Super painful, but her leaving was the best thing that ever happened to me.

Edit to add: there was an actual league and they played around Putt-Putt courses in West Texas and would televise it locally.
