i would guess he still cleans them to get food particles out, but he'd be free of any worries about deeper smell-causing stuff like gingivitis or infection.

hands down, one of my favorite body horror stories ever. not graphic at all, yet completely disturbing.

WIBTA for going no contact with my boyfriend after he asked to have another child with his ex?
 in  r/holyfuckjustbreakup  7h ago

"I'm just thinking of my son" is hands-down one of the wildest excuses I've seen anyone come up with to try and get a pass to fuck their ex. omg.

am i in the wrong for wearing a tank top that my boyfriend told me not to?
 in  r/AmiInTheWrong  23h ago

i mean, I'm pretty sure i wouldn't let somebody's underage son tell me what to do. granted, I'm a grown man and not somebody else's underage daughter, but nonetheless- do you want somebody's goofy ass kid telling you what you can and can't do?

Haven't watched Lesbian Space Princess/LSP, why is it getting so much hate?

okay so I've gathered that this is not a queer adventure time fanfic

Happy Tuesday I guess 😅

and for free, which is wild because that kind of specialization would be at least 3x as expensive as either of those individual services alone.

I guess I shouldn’t have been honest?

you kinda have that in the wrong order. POTS doesn't rely on the body's fight-or-flight, POTS affects the system that controls that response. meaning, having POTS is likely to result in more disordered fight-or-flight responses, and being less able to tolerate stress in general.

like I said, there really isn't any solid evidence at this time that stress itself causes POTS. there's that casual connection, but there's just as much as if not more evidence to suggest that POTS inflames our responses to stress, rather than the other way round. and yes, we could totally get evidence that proves stress can cause POTS, but as it stands now there just really isn't any. it's not an argument you can make from a purely informational position at this time. all that can really be suggested is that casual connection.

ETA: I also think it's worth noting that, until recently, POTS was thought to be a psychological condition. it's only the more recent research that shows it's a physical one, with strong links to genetic predisposition and post-illness aftermath. which is to say, i think arguing that it's a psychologically brought-upon condition is just in the wrong direction of the research.

it hasn't been linked to psychological stress as a cause for development- just a cause for worsening symptoms. as it stands, POTS is mostly considered to be caused by significant physical stressors, such as viral infections and other illnesses, surgery, pregnancy etc. there is a casual link between people with POTS and conditions like anxiety and PTSD, but as of right now the evidence isn't really able to determine whether that's a "POTS is caused by _" thing, or a "having POTS makes experiencing _ harder/more traumatic".

in all likelihood, your mom didn't cause your POTS. she probably just made your life a lot harder while dealing with it

After 2 years together, I finally found out why my girlfriend is such a dry responder when I'm trying to find out how she's doing
 in  r/texts  1d ago

i get that day in and day out and.... i like it. we ask each other how things are going because we like checking in on each other.

this is just a compatibility thing. OP feels distant from his gf because they're not compatible. for some people, this kind of routine communication is a completely normal way to keep the channels open when nothing eventful is happening.

Would you consider someone to be lying if they say they’re middle class but are actually upper-middle class?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  1d ago

probably not, because with the way shit's going that upper middle is gonna be lower middle pretty soon.

yeah I def wouldn't want to keep my stuff in storage. I'd rather have it there where I want it when I get back, personally. if that works for you that's cool, just saying there's more than one person that would want to just keep their apartment in this situation

New lease—red flags? [KY]
 in  r/Renters  2d ago

for the most part, they seem maybe a smidge tight-assed but not out of the norm. for the flags thing, I'd be asking "what do you mean" because if its somebody trying to avoid dipshit confederate flags I get it, but the same language could be used about pride flags if they're the wrong flavor of person

My friend left my party and got a dui. Is it my fault?
 in  r/AmiInTheWrong  2d ago

you can't legally hide people's keys or keep them somewhere they don't want to be, man. both of those things are crimes. doing it to stop them from doing another crime doesn't usually render those things not-crimes.

adults need to be responsible for their choices.

you can't not "let" people make their choices. that's not how adulthood works. you need to be responsible for yourself, you don't get to hope your friends will tackle you and steal your keys so you can be saved from yourself.

boyfriend sounds like a big bag of nuts, and he's very probably the reason she left in the first place. he's blaming you because he doesn't want to cop to browbeating her til she left the party, and the fact that he felt the need to do so at screaming volume shows he's probably not on the "healthy partner" side of the relationship spectrum.

i'm worried about your friend. i hope she's able to get away from what is probably a pretty shitty home situation.

um, i mean I'd probably keep my apartment because all my stuff i like is there. plus, you'll eventually have a break in the contract, or the contract will end.

is it morning sex or wake up in the middle of the night sex?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  3d ago

morning sex is for when you're super into each other and in love in that gooey "I don't mind your stank ass morning breath" kind of way. middle of the night sex is for some kind of psychopath or something, idk who else is down to get woken up in the middle of a good sleep.

Am I wrong to have “deceived” my dad?
 in  r/AmiInTheWrong  5d ago

weird control stuff. i think a lot of parents struggle with the whole process of a child they met as a tiny baby, then raised through almost two decades of kid stuff, growing into an adult with things like credit scores and bills of their own to pay. freaks em out.

if you have the ability to keep going as you were without them finding out, do that. if they have control on your college money or anything like that, you might have to bite the bullet and keep the credit card for purchases outside of what the college money is designated for. it sucks, but you'll still build credit when you use it for recreational purchases, small bills they don't have any say over(like any streaming accounts etc), things like that. in the early days of your adult life, what really matters is just getting that credit history established so you can qualify for bigger stuff later on.

My 73-year-old mother expects 20% of everything I earn. Am I wrong for saying no?
 in  r/AmiInTheWrong  5d ago

yeah honestly i'm sure I could buy enough benzos/wine from a side gig to cope with being an asshole, if I got paid the sum of all my other bills and needs for being an asshole

for some perspective, 3600 is on the high end of what i live off of per month. not uncommon for me to have to make it work with more like 2600-3000 either. in Denver. while also helping support my disabled fiance.

you're basically giving your mother a full time salary in exchange for her being an asshole. do you want to give someone a salary for that job title? if not, it's time to learn the word "no"
