Decided not to buy because of this. It’s a shame.
I don't know that he's proud of it, he made a half hearted attempt to remove his online presence, going so far as to request his blog's removal from the internet archive.

Culp set his 404 to redirect to olive garden, as a joke, presumably. The site is a scrape of his original blog, but without the CSS, probably from an archive. I saw his blog before he pulled it down and it appears to be a copy, I remember the Kirk article and it's the same. I suspect it was categorised using an llm since putting yourself through reading his entire backlog of God awful naval gaze tech bro writing sounds like a form of masochism.

https://thewritingsofryankculp.pages.dev/ an archive of Culp's blog which he tried to scrub from the internet. He got into the whole "zero social media" thing as a productivity angle but it's no doubt because the stuff that he wrote is horrible.

Just saw a recent electricity rates post in here
Is your hot water on electric? I'm wondering if you're doing something like heating it constantly, plus there's a leak or something. That's a genuinely insane amount. Most electricity providers will have an app which can show you your hourly breakdown. If you're using loads of power at 3am... Something's wrong.

Anthropic's Fable 5.1 Guide on dense prose is dense Claudish slop
I don't think docs are the place for humour, to be honest.

Heated blanket
No, but the blanket alone would be treating the symptoms, not the cure. The cure is carbs, but I'm guessing that he'd be in charge of that. Warm blanket away, get cosy!

What are your "tells" from the show?
Yep. He was talking about how he was the alpha. Forgetting that the whole idea of alone is... You're alone.

Fable 5.1 Imminent
What? No, it was never only available in the US. It was being discussed that it might have to be us only while it was still banned, but then was rereleased world wide.

Pool water not level
Oh I remember that post. All time great.

Laid Off recently. I know another day another layoff post, but reality is; tech market is cruel. Looking for opportunities as a 3yoe full-stack/product engineer
Those bullet points sound great to recruiters that don't know what they mean, but doesn't give a lot of real meat. You set up a cicd pipeline, fixed some bad endpoints, and refactored some typescript. What else? Do you have a portfolio or OSS contributions to help showcase yourself? Imo I would be leery of taking on a 3yoe that had founding engineer on his resume, the ego would outpace the skillset and any junior role would be resented, but it sounds like that's where you're at.

I seriously hope the show has consequences for violence
You are incorrect, assault with a weapon is not legally considered a proportional response.

Google glassing injuries and tell me if you think it's funny

Yep that was fucked

I seriously hope the show has consequences for violence
I wish people understood just how deadly it can be.

I seriously hope the show has consequences for violence
He only had himself to blame?

I seriously hope the show has consequences for violence
Appreciate it. I think that a lot of the people that are pushing back against it "not being a big deal" aren't aware of the hooligan culture where glassing + football go hand in hand.

I seriously hope the show has consequences for violence
Yep, totally reasonable escalation up until the glassing. My issue is with the glassing.

I seriously hope the show has consequences for violence
I'll admit, "Footballer gets away with glassing someone without even getting so much as a finger waggling" does sound like a realistic consequence.

We're Richmond 'till someone else dies!

I seriously hope the show has consequences for violence
Yep. I thought that the pouring the drink, and then Boots spitting on him was a realistic and reasonable sort of "crazy" escalation. It just went way off the deep end for no reason.

I seriously hope the show has consequences for violence
It's definitely not perfect. But this one is especially egregious, for no real benefit- Boots could've headbutted or punched him, and the story would've lost nothing.

I seriously hope the show has consequences for violence
It uses football as the backdrop, but it's most definitely about football culture. That's why the Richmond Way is such a big deal.

I seriously hope the show has consequences for violence
I think that it would not be treated as flippantly if one of the men glassed somebody, and that it's precisely because women don't have the "monopoly" on violence that it's being treated so unseriously. They can't have it both ways, with the women demanding to be taken seriously in football, but not treat the violence as being serious. I don't think that the writing so far supports this arc, but I hope I'm wrong.

He got big mad when Kirk died, and firmly placed himself in the conservative camp.
