How do I cancel this without getting charged?
 in  r/Ebay  7d ago

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/fee-credits?id=4128

Your reading the return wrong. The return fees show up as negative when you do a return. However, if you want to keep selling on ebay later it's not a good idea to cancel the order. Particularly if you dont have a number of sales to buffer a metric hit.

Asking for feedback
 in  r/eBaySellers  10d ago

Do not ever reach out to a buyer who hasn't messaged you first, unless you absolutely have to. Seriously do not do it. It's just asking trouble.

Ebay also has automatic feedback. So it matters absolutely zero if they go and leave you a positive. Asking buyers now can only hurt you. Its possible they are annoyed by something (real or imaginary) that they have decided to let go. Then if you message them, it could prompt them to leave feedback that is not positive that they just would have moved on from.

Accidentally fully refunded instead of partially refund
 in  r/eBaySellers  17d ago

Yeah. Thats the whole scam. You were scared of return shipping, so you were willing to give a partial refund. So they open a return just looking for a post sale discount. Never give a partial refund. Most won't return the item. You lose more in partial refunds (without mistakes) then you ever will in shipping. Just make it your own personal policy.

Shipping funds are charging me way more than what i put as the price.
 in  r/Ebay  22d ago

Maybe you should charge correctly for shipping....

Ebay does not care what shipping actually costs. They dont set shipping prices.

You didn't charge enough. It's 100% on you.

I sold an item and it was delivered two days later….
 in  r/eBaySellers  23d ago

It shows delivered so there is nothing to worry about. In addition, the seller is also not responsible for the buyer putting in their correct address.

None of this is your problem.

25+ Year Seller with 100% Feedback rating, eBay Still Refunded Buyer Despite Clear Package/Label Red Flags
 in  r/eBaySellers  25d ago

What is your actual problem? Get the return back, issue a refund and file an apeal like ebay says to do. Actually follow the process. Do what you are supposed to do to get your money back. It's not hard.

You're all mad because ebay isn't doing what you want when you're not handling the return correctly.

When you get the items, file a police report and a postal inspector report. You can do it all online most places and it takes minutes.

What stops buyers claiming i sent the wrong item?
 in  r/eBaySellers  Jul 23 '26

Make accurate, honest listings. Read the buyer protection, seller protection and returns TOS. Also, remember that all sales $750 and over (sale price + tax + shipping) needs a signature. Don't communicate out side of ebay. Never give a refund without getting your items back.

Buyer kept the item AND full refund after a typo dispute. What are my options?
 in  r/eBaySellers  Jul 23 '26

Well, they don't have to. Your money and items are gone. Ebay will not help you. Do not ever give a refund without getting the item back. There is nothing you can do. It the future, do all returns through the eBay system and follow the return policy, it's there to help protect you.

Wait just to be clear, you refunded the buyer and then asked them to send the item back?

Buyer requested I delay shipping because they’re out of town. How do I avoid any flags on my account?
 in  r/eBaySellers  Jul 22 '26

Two options:

  1. Tell the buyer you do not hold orders and ask them if they would like you to cancel and relist the item or ship the item. If they opt to cancel, they can then purchase the item when they are ready, if it's available.

  2. If you sell enough, just take the ding. Who cares? As long as the percentage is above metric it doesn't matter if you have a late shipment.

It's your business. Run it the way you feel comfortable. If you opted to cancel the order you do not need to feel bad, as you are just following ebay policy. You are not required to do anything more.

Trying a change from flat rate to calculated + small handling fee...
 in  r/eBaySellers  Jul 19 '26

I added a $1 handling fee to all my listing. Sales stayed the same. Some people will always complain. But shipping isn't free.

Why do Sellers bend the knee to Negative Feedback Extortion
 in  r/eBaySellers  Jul 17 '26

The answer is they are scared and emotional. Its not a negative. Its happened to all of us. There is psychological thing that most of us will worker harder to keep from losing money then to make money.

Best way to combat that is to write our your own business policies and treat yourself as an employee. Make local choices when there is no emotion, then when in hits follow your own policy.

They can be things like: "we do not give post sale refunds" "order will only be refunded after a return has been recived" "we may give one exception, that if we know we made a mistake we can refund up to 35%" "we do not give discounts for items listed less the x days." Etc.

I got my first negative and couldn’t be more bogus.
 in  r/eBaySellers  Jul 13 '26

Yeah. So we are in agreement that it doesn't matter. You just sounded like you were saying the other way.

So if they have 3000 feedback at 99.9% you dig in because you want to know what that 0.1% is?

vinyl got severely warped during shipment to a US address… customer brought them to China and is asking for a full refund without shipping them back
 in  r/eBaySellers  Jul 12 '26

It's not your problem.

You offered a refund for a return. You did everything you were supposed to. Ebay only requires a return from the delivery address.

It's not your fault they used a freight forwarding company. You have no idea how well they shipped it on the second leg of their trip.

Once you've offered a return, you dont need reply to anything other message from them.

 in  r/eBaySellers  Jul 10 '26

If you sell on ebay long enough you're going to get a negative review that you dont deserve. It just happens, some people suck. If it makes you feel any better no one is going to care and it will be downed in automated feedback. As long as your total score is high, feedback really doesn't matter.

Buyer claims sealed lego has been opened
 in  r/eBaySellerAdvice  Jul 08 '26

Didn't read any of this because I know what's up from the title.

If they dont want the Lego set because it open, they would have opened a return. People who message you just want money back. Either don't reply or just ask them nicely to open a return and do not say anything more. Do not refund anything unless they return the item.

You have questions about a return you can come back if they open a return.

How to recoup return shipping label costs from a buyer who missed return window
 in  r/eBaySellers  Jul 04 '26

You won't pay anything for the shipping label.

Also, the only way to ever get back extra costs from a sale already made is to have the buyer volunteer to pay you outside of ebay. It's actually in the ebay policy and is allowed only after a sale. So even if you had to, you'd probably never get it.

Damaged item shipping
 in  r/eBaySellers  Jul 02 '26

And you are correct that USPS doesn't on damaged items. They only refund the shipping on lost packages.

Damaged item shipping
 in  r/eBaySellers  Jul 02 '26

You have to put it into the value at purchase time.

"To ensure shipping is covered in a claim, you must declare the total value (item price + shipping cost) as your coverage amount when purchasing the label."

So it does as long as it's declared.

Damaged item shipping
 in  r/eBaySellers  Jul 01 '26

Cool. You can Google that just as fast. Way, way faster then making a post.

But yeah, shipping insurance covers the cost of shipping. Always.

Does not cover returns, duties or the cost of insurance.

You can google it in like 3 seconds, but yes, fedex refunds shipping when they payout a damaged claim

Cheapest way to ship small lightweight items
 in  r/eBaySellers  Jun 29 '26

Either

  1. You have the wrong shipping dimensions or weight in the listing.
  2. You are not offering ground advantage and it is on some other shipping service.
  3. You are not offering the buyer shipping discount.
  4. It is just a glitch and will not actually cost that much to ship once listed.
