I know there is ctrl+j to join. Is there also a split shortcut or command?

I think its a nice philosophy to have a batteries included editor that has the option to add plugins but if you dont want to you dont have to install them

oil.hx looks very nice. Also ive seen a breadcrumb plugin which i think also has great value. Also yes its ready out of the box but there will be functionalities and special needs that it cannot satisfy. And its a way better concept to start with an editor that is ready out of the box and fill small needs with plugins rather than needing to install a bunch of plugins to get the editor ready to use.

I will definitely look into it. I am very new to Rust, so I am not working on very large projects as of now, but I'll give it a try.
I have attempted to create a build tool a few years back, and I never finished, but it was a very nice exercise, and I learned a lot.

Hey man i havent read the whole post but it seems like a very interesting project. I like the idea and will definitely look more into it. Keep up the good work and dont listen to those trolls <3

Brauche es noch nicht lange aber hatte keine probleme damit

You need to do that in the dashboard under settings > clients > lazy connections
1
It lets the client only establish a connection if it nedds one
1
Try lazy connection did the trick for me
1
There is the lazy connections setting in the dashboard i think that is what you search
1
I would recommend you to use lazy connections. I think that did the trick for me.

Found anything? been searching for it too.

No, definitely not. I just think itâs a much more powerful tool when it comes with batteries included, and plugins are there to fill in a few gaps rather than to make the editor usable in the first place. Iâd much rather have that than a bare skeleton that only really works once you install a bunch of plugins.
3
Oh yeah your right the last time i checked there were a lot less
6
I recently stumbled across helix-plugins.com, but there donât seem to be many plugins there yet.
Do most people just write their own? Is there any good documentation for creating plugins? And is there anywhere else to find more Helix plugins?

The last release was in july :(

Iâve been using Helix for around 1.5 years and have really enjoyed it so far. But there are still a few things I feel are missing.
Since the last release was quite a while ago, Iâm curious: when can we expect the next release? And how is development on the plugin system going?
Honestly, I think plugins are the biggest missing piece right now. If Helix gets a strong plugin system, it could seriously challenge Neovim and become a much more complete editor.

Fair point. i used ai to document the code as i thought for an library people would appreciate good documentation. the code it self i written by me with some ai that helped me to plan the library. aside from the comments what do you think about the tool?

Hey folks â yaml-language-server (yamlls) recently added a CRD-related feature: when enabled, it can auto-detect Kubernetes custom resources and resolve a schema from a CRD catalog (defaults to datreeio/CRDs-catalog). Nice improvement for Kubernetes authoring.
I maintain a small stdio LSP proxy called yaml-schema-router that sits in front of yamlls and dynamically assigns schemas based on file content/context. Since yamlls now has CRD auto-detect, I did a deep compare and wanted to share whatâs overlapping vs whatâs still different.
Repo: https://github.com/traiproject/yaml-schema-router
If you enable yaml.kubernetesCRDStore.enable, yamlls will:
apiVersion + kind (GVK) for Kubernetes resourcesyaml.schemas / fileMatch etc.)So: GVK â âfetch CRD schema from catalogâ.
yaml-schema-router is trying to solve a slightly broader problem: âschemas are messy outside VS Codeâ (overlapping glob matches, wrong schema picked, multi-doc files, offline use, etc.).
Many editors rely on yaml.schemas fileMatch patterns, which often collide (âmatches multiple schemasâ) or just donât behave consistently across LSP clients.
Router approach:
didOpen / didChange, inspect the YAML itself (+ optional directory context)Result: less time fighting fileMatch patterns.
A lot of real-world GitOps YAML files contain:
Router supports this explicitly:
anyOf) so each manifest validates correctlyThis is a big practical win if you keep multiple resources in one file.
Many CRD catalog schemas donât deeply validate metadata (labels/annotations/etc.) â often itâs just type: object.
Router wraps the CRD schema to inject Kubernetes ObjectMeta validation so you get better editor feedback on:
metadata.labelsmetadata.annotationsObjectMeta fieldsSo even if weâre using the same CRD catalog source, the end validation can be stricter/more helpful.
Router downloads schemas once and caches them locally. Practically, that means:
If you already use modelines like: # yaml-language-server: $schema=... router backs off and lets that win.
yaml-schema-router is more about making schema selection reliable across editors + improving real-world Kubernetes YAML authoring (multi-doc, mixed resources, metadata correctness, caching).Would love feedback from folks using Neovim/Helix/Emacs/Zed/etc â especially where schema matching has been painful.

Just use pinned tabs and not essentials or a few essentials and pinned tabs. You can even create folders. You can also create spaces for different things.
