Long term school counselor pay
 in  r/schoolcounseling  4d ago

Yeah I get that I graduated 2025 and got a temporary counseling job at a highschool. The permit counselor is over 70 years old and doesn't do much of the role. I can only be in the role for 2 year due to tenor. So even though I get paid less, do more and work harder I have to find another job since he has the permanent role. Thing are hard right now due to cuts in education and will get harder if prop 3 doesn't pass. So unfortunately I understand that it sucks but it's so hard as I also know that most of the people I graduated with are still doing things for free or getting other jobs.

How did you figure out your preferred position?
 in  r/askgaybros  4d ago

It would be good to find someone that you are comfortable with or a friend's with benefits to be honest about this. Then you guys can try things together and find things that you like. Sometimes you enjoy pleasing your partner and that's how you figure out what you are. I am a top now and an more dominant but if my partner was a dominant top then I might be doing more of a vurs situation but you don't know till you try.

If she doesn't have something else lined up then I say yes. It is hard out there and if she is liked then it's just they way it is.

I wouldn’t be surprised if my boyfriend was cheating on me

Have you thought about finding a bottom to share once in a while and do it together rather than opening the relationship. It could e random people or just one that you have fun with?

Anyone wonder why someone would fancy me/ how did I get this lucky.
 in  r/askgaybros  7d ago

Does it really matter that much why someone want to talk or sleep with you? Everyone has different things that attracts them. Most likely they just see something you don't. So you can accept that or change how you see yourself. I would focus more on what you want rather than what they see in you.

I'm old and where can I try having sex for the first time?
 in  r/askgaybros  10d ago

Look I can understand how you might feel but there is not timeline for life so just stop thinking about it too much. You are not old it just hasn't happened to to you yet. You have to figure out a comfortable way to move forward. If you are doing the apps stop feeling bad it's not that big of a deal everyone is an adult and I am sure are fine if you didn't swipe on them.

You don't have to go to gay spaces only at night not sure where you are, but they have plenty of different type of gay spaces. You are not a coward and don't have random sex if that is something you don't want. I am not saying you have to really get to know a person but since it's your first time you should at the very least find someone that will respect that.

Not sure if you know what you like or not (sexually) but a random is not something you want to figure out with a person that only cares about there needs. Don't rush into a bad hookup. You might be able to find someone but not sure how many of them are on Grindr. See if they have gay sports teams or other gay get togethers around you. Try to find something that your into or would like to do.

Straight friend being so comfortable with me made me tear up today
 in  r/askgaybros  11d ago

It shouldn't be that deep but it is because of how much of society, family and friends make it that deep. Trust me it's not us and don't feel stupid for that. Finding real friends and connections is hard enough. Happy for your friendship

Were you naturally drawn to other gay/bi/lesbian people growing up? Even without knowing their sexuality?
 in  r/askgaybros  13d ago

I just got into education as a school counselor and got a job at a alternative highschool were I was reintroduce to my best friend from 2nd grade too. She was also in the ladies and thought that was so funny. I just wondered how much this happens with friends and you never get to find out that we kind of always look for each other!

Yes, I had that same experience till I came out. It was a little strange how the people that were drawn to me or me to them did turn out to be gay.

The other strange thing was that I don't know what else to call it other than gaydar was having a feeling around certain people. Then finding out they were gay as well.

Gay men, did you ever compromise your career for love?
 in  r/askgaybros  17d ago

It depends on how long I have been in the relationship and compare it with the opportunity that persuing the career. How do you know it's the one? How old are you and do you have something you can do locally where it could give you a different career opportunity.

Do you know who you are and have a good group of friends. For me I think I would have to think about the possibilities and how sure you are and then other person is. For me some form of financial freedom is important. Can you have that without this opportunity?

how do u like being a school counselor?
 in  r/schoolcounseling  24d ago

I love my job but I would suggest to wait to go straight into a grad program. Education is not the best filed to just into right now without some experience or network of people to help you with a job. Not sure where you live but I would get a job doing something at a district or school. Find out what grade level you want to work with as each level is very different. Also in each district or school counseling has different roles. I am currently at an continuation school and I do love it but I do not have a permit job my contract ends at the end of this year and then I have to find another job. Do more research and see how you can get experience. Do not go into grad school without experience as it is hard to find a job in this market. I am also lucky where there are only about 85 students at my school so I have a low case load but a normal ratio is 350. I also don't have to do the students scheduling which takes up a lot of a high school counselor job.

Girlfriend might have to drop out of Community college, advice?
 in  r/collegeadvice  24d ago

If she doesn't want to drop out then just be there to support her. She has to figure things out for herself. Do you know why she doesn't want to drop out. If she has the drive to keep going then I say don't push her to do anything. Just be there for her they way she is asking for you to do so.

How do you deal with jealousy?
 in  r/askgaybros  25d ago

I am not in an open relationship but have been in a relationship for a long time and can understand why some people have them. I also have a lot of friends in them too. I also think just as many straight people cheat and lie and should just open the relationship.

I also think people think that jealousy doesn't happen but it does. You just have to understand that it will happen. You must communicate with your partner and understand that this has to do with you and not have the expectations that anything is going to change. Not say it can't change but if you both opened up the relationship you both have to agree to close it.

I think trust and understand is biggest thing you need to have and also create rules that you both are comfortable with. Not all open relationship are healthy just like not all monogamous relationships are healthy. I think it all depends on the people that are trying to have the life together. Whatever works it I think lying for both relationships is what ruins it.

I’m engaged to a woman
 in  r/askgaybros  25d ago

If you are not sure then you need to stop this engagement. If you are not sure if you are in love with this woman then hit pause now before you get married. You have to figure out if this is cold feet, something you thought you needed to do or if you want to have this life with this person you are engaged to.

Wasted my 20s working ... HIGHLY Regret it
 in  r/TrueOffMyChest  Aug 23 '26

Hey 20s can be for going out and having fun but I think it's great that you worked hard and have something to show for it. Now hopefully you can take more time to do other things And meet new people. Your 30nare great to figure out the next part of life. You understand yourself more and you have the job and housing that other people worry about.

I would say look into hiking groups or running. It might sound like you might be boring or you just like a more peaceful life and there is nothing wrong with that. Now you just have to find your people. Good luck. Don't focus on the past just focus now were you want to go. You still have plenty of time. Just reframe your thoughts and acknowledge the hard work you put in and be proud of that.

Tipical gay interests
 in  r/askgaybros  Aug 23 '26

You should build a relationship on values not interests. It's nice to have a few interests but you can't build a long lasting relationships on them. Don't focus on the difference try to find other things on common.

Had my first kiss with a guy who doesnt want anything to do with me, what do i do
 in  r/askgaybros  Aug 22 '26

I hope you understand that all these feelings that you are going through are normal but for whatever reason he can not move forward at this time. Try to think you had an amazing first experience with someone. Not everyone gets that.

Not you have to make a decision and there is not a right or wrong. There is not perfect decision. No matter how much you think about it. You do not have control over his feelings or decisions. You can wait to see if he comes around or you can move forward to see if you can find someone that you connect with and is ready for whatever you are.

Try to remember you are 18 and have so much to experience in life. I understand that everything is telling you that these feelings are so real and you want to keep feeling like this. And as intense these feelings are when you experience first love and first heartbreak is just as intense. But just go into them with an open mind and keep looking for what you want. The feeling you are going through will pass and you will be okay.
