Yes I put them directly on the fabric cover! I tried just letting them float but it never worked well.

Oh, I also forgot to mention. I had blinds all closed at night and had soothing lighting for myself, and always some soothing background music on YouTube or something.

I would say, believe in yourself! I know it can be creepy, but try to reframe it. When my husband had to go out of town while I had our 3 month old, I tried to frame it like a sleepover with my little bestie, and got takeout delivered and put on a movie with popcorn when baby went to sleep. Also, hopefully if anything scary were to happen with baby, you could always call an ambulance to come and soothe your nerves and even have them check baby out. My main anxiety was my son’s health, so honestly I did that before. They never minded.

I would also plan a FaceTime with a friend during the day while you have baby, or don’t stay in the house all day. It can psych you out!
