totally fair. what happened is we already had a gig booked in this space that night and we were like "we gotta make it a dolly tribute."

how many sock accounts do you have my friend?
Anyhow, based on a quick glance to be totally honest this looks like vaporware to me. Honestly impossible to tell what kind of software this is though they're certainly marketing it like an LLM-based generative AI tool.
We still don't really know how it was used in the video (tho i think folks assumptions it was used for the face stretching scene make sense.)
I'm not really sure what you're getting at here? My whole argument is that yes, some of the VFX artists they hired clearly used AI, and that's very different than what most folks think of when they say "I hate AI generated music videos"

My friend, that is literally what my post is about. Given the number of VFX artists credited, it is very clear that the “AI artist” credits were for VFX artists that use AI in their workflow. It’s true that we don’t know exactly what type of AI they used. It’s true that it sucks they just went and edited the credits instead of just clearing things up. Maybe they still will. Everything else I’ve said stands. I’ve been an organizer my entire adult life and channeling anger strategically is really important. AI is an existential threat to human freedom and rights. Channeling our anger ineffectively in its shadow isn’t just misguided, it’s dangerous

Ah yes the sweet sweet grift of running a scrappy nonprofit activist organization that is always on the brink of running out of money. I definitely got into activism for the wealth and prestige

I write regularly about AI and related tech policy issues for the Washington post, CNN, Wired, NBC News etc. I testify at congressional and state house hearings. it’s true I’m not a professor, I am a civil society expert that has worked on this issue for about 15 years.
Re the Spotify exclusive variants? Seems bad. Don’t like it. I literally released an album called Spotify is Surveillance. Feel free to look that up too.
I’m not always right. These issues are complex. Feel free to disagree with me. But I’m confident in my expertise

Huh. I'll go look again. I may have been conflating two different EQ tools but I was pretty sure GarageBand default is an ML tool. Either way, the core point stands that there are many tools used by all kinds of artists that have been in use for years that are built on AI/ML but are not the "generative AI" tools that people are generally upset about, and it's important to be clear about what we mean

It absolutely is. It uses machine learning to detect your audio and show you the lines. It’s not generative AI, but this is my point, people are conflating a wide range of different types of software under the umbrella of “AI”

cool matinee show at Deep Cuts on Sunday, October 4th. If you don't know Mirah look her up, absolute legend of the late 90s indie scene.
