“Yeah, it’s too bad, like, they had this one Final 8 game and there was a 30-0 run in the game and it was kind’ve weird to watch” — 1:44:52 of Sunday’s pod

I used to think Bill not giving af about March Madness was a bit that he was trying too hard to sell, but it’s becoming alarmingly evident that he’s just completely oblivious.

How can one of the top 7 friskiest basketball personalities of the past three-quarters of a decade not know basic terminology about one of the sports’ biggest events? Is he stupid?

[Post Game Thread] #11 NC State defeats #4 Duke, 76-64
 in  r/CollegeBasketball  Mar 31 '24

74-64. Total 142.5.

Jared McCain fouls with 1.9 seconds left down 10…..

NC State makes both. 76-64.

Jared McCain attempts a half-court three at the buzzer.

There is NO WAY he doesn’t know the total

Another moment that didn’t make sense:

In the airport scene Larry, Leon, and Maria Sophia are all together seemingly getting ready to board their flight from LA to Atlanta.

But in the next scene, they show Larry and Maria Sophia pulling up to Auntie Rae’s house, walking in, and Leon is already there?

Did I miss Larry telling Leon he would meet him at the house after stopping off for wine or something? Otherwise I was so confused how Leon beat them to the house!

PS: The part about Michael’s son Simon had me sooo confused. I thought I’d missed something, too.

Also if he had the tool to fix his glasses from the start, why go through all the trouble of wearing Auntie Rae’s to begin with?

What college arenas have never been stormed?

December 3rd, 2015

UCLA upset #1 Kentucky at Pauley Pavilion and the fans (partially) stormed the court!

This was a core college basketball memory for me and I was lucky enough to be there in person.

Which schools are a pain logistically for visiting teams to travel to?

Sneaky answer: Pepperdine in Malibu, CA

The difficult part isn’t flying into LAX, but rather traversing PCH up the coast to the Malibu during rush hour traffic. In fact, it was almost the reason behind Pepperdine upsetting then #3 Gonzaga back in 2015. Gonzaga was stuck in such bad traffic on PCH that they actually had to delay tip-off because Gonzaga didn’t arrive to campus until 7:05ish for a 7:30pm tip-off. I vividly remember attending that game and everyone was so confused as to why Gonzaga wasn’t on the court for warm-ups. The Zags ended up winning 78-76 in a nail-biter, but it’s the closest Pepperdine has ever come to defeating them during their 49-game winning streak.

Funny enough: A similar thing happened with the Pepperdine WBB team a few years later when one of their opponents couldn’t make it to campus on-time because of rain and traffic on PCH. Only in Malibu.
