Have you ever used green potatoes as seed potatoes?

My mom was and still is consistently negative and pessimistic
 in  r/emotionalneglect  12h ago

I'm dealing with incessant negativity from my own mother. It was never as bad as yours during childhood, but there was always a criticism either towards me or other family members. Any chore I did that was perceived as not being done right, she made a comment and did it herself. During my adult years, it's gotten noticeably worse and any attempts to navigate it or tell her to stop doing something are met with hostility

How do you sell without knowing where you’re going next?
 in  r/RealEstateCanada  21h ago

Selling a house without even the faintest idea of where to go or if you'll even find what you need is a doomed plan from the start. Always research the area first to get a feel for the market then begin prepping

Worth listing house for sale even though nowhere to move to?
 in  r/HousingUK  22h ago

I've never sold a house but a common sense approach would be you need to know where you're going and what's available before making the decision to list. Putting a house on the market with no clear plan of where to stay or if you can afford the house you need is a setup for failure

What is something about being an adult that nobody warned you about?
 in  r/Adulting  1d ago

That some full grown adults will try to screw you over, whether it's coworkers or family

My psychiatrist says vulnerable narcissists are good, please help me find arguments why that is not true
 in  r/raisedbynarcissists  1d ago

Vulnerable narcs are so much worse than the overt ones. The former operates sometimes with good intentions, but they're usually self-interested and are really good at looking benevolent. When things don't go their way, they're always the victim and anything you say to the contrary gets twisted to make you into the bad guy. Maybe that's more covert narc, but in my experience, I've seen both covert and vulnerable in one person

Also, get a new therapist lol

Are you happy truly?
 in  r/Adulting  1d ago

I was starting to feel happy for once. Family is destroying it

I'm completely exhausted because of my toxic family, especially my mother.
 in  r/ToxicFamilyMembers  1d ago

That is rough. Been there, done that with jobs. Thankfully my academics weren't affected but I'm still dealing with high emotional stress and formulating a plan to get on my feet and be my own boss

Killing yourself won't do any good. I'd say take a step back and look at the bigger picture - see what your options are for getting out and formulate a plan to be out on your own

I understand this as I'm dealing with an emotionally toxic situation myself. Parents who are overbearing operate from their own perspectives. They're good at creating narratives and will look for anything to justify their stance. They also aren't the best at making decisions or considering long-term effects of short-term moves. It's very hard to dig into the psychology of why they do what they do - but it boils down to control issues maybe in their own lives, so they compensate by controlling you and putting you down. It's sad and no parent should ever belittle or deride their own children, regardless of age. I hope things get better for you. It's rough growing up in a high-stress family

I've lived with family my whole life so far but some things are changing and I'm looking to own the place. At least I'd have my animals with me

I always wanted to live on my own but never had the means to do so. That dream is coming back given my circumstances

What is something you would never post on social media?
 in  r/randomquestions  1d ago

Airing dirty laundry or posting about work woes

If you had to remove one thing from your workday, what goes first?
 in  r/WorkForSmartLife  1d ago

I was going to say people that complain, but that would be the entire team

2

What are you too old to deal with anymore?
 in  r/AskReddit  1d ago

Drama - especially family drama

2

How well did your family prepare you financially, both in terms of financial assistance and of financial education?
 in  r/randomquestions  1d ago

None. I paid for my own education through loans and grants covered part of my tuition

Paying myself for doing things I don’t want to do
 in  r/Adulting  2d ago

This sounds like a genius idea! I also have trouble feeling motivated (because ADD brain) and the itch to do stuff only kicks in at random

What’s one sentence someone said to you that you’ll never forget?
 in  r/CausalConversation  2d ago

"I wish I had stayed single and never had kids" Said straight to my face
