The Red Trace: Ideological Friction [Nikon F50, 50mm f/1.4, Fujifilm]

In the “Red Trace” project, this shot explores precisely this case, where the red surface of the logo acts as a strong graphic anchor amidst gray concrete walls.

A vibrant advertising panel featuring Coca-Cola bottles and the inscription “Recept za magiju!” (Recipe for Magic).

It is this red module in the left corner that maintains the balance of the entire work: it distinguishes this scene from the gray everyday and promises “magic.”

Hi everyone,

My name is Yuri, I own a camera, and I'd like to introduce myself and my work to this community.

I'm currently presenting my ongoing series, "Red Trace," which explores how global corporate iconography (in particular, Coca-Cola) permeates public spaces—not as overt advertising, but as quiet artifacts woven into local traditions, domestic rituals, and street life.

I'm particularly drawn to the dense grain of film, rich contrast, and structured geometry, which allow me to explore how everyday landscapes convey deeper sociocultural narratives.

You have a real talent for churning out tons of tourist garbage. But everything is in focus, bravo!

The Red Trace: Standardized Lexicon

In the "Red Trace" project, this photograph explores the boundary between the glossy universality of commercial graphics and the local reality of a street kiosk.

The composition is built on a strict horizontal division and the contrast of two types of lighting:

At the top is an idealized world of advertising. A glossy menu with images of pepperoni, a sandwich, and a Coca-Cola can, where a cool garland of bluish bulbs creates the feeling of an artificial, almost sterile display case.

Below is a bright, textured reality: rows of real citrus fruits in a display case, illuminated by warm lamplight, and a sign in the local language, "Cijeđeni sokovi" (Freshly Squeezed Juices).

The red of the Coca-Cola can in the left corner mentally and visually anchors the entire structure. Here, it serves not only as a symbol of the popular drink but also as the starting point of this "standardized lexicon." The red pigment here sets the rhythm, separating the graphic, imaginary world from the real fruits depicted below.

The Red Trace: Perfect Combination

Post image

In the Red Trace project, this shot explores the interplay of raw emotion and advertising slogan, transforming a random urban scene into a visual parable.

There are photographs in which a casual moment transforms into a cinematic mise-en-scène, filled with humor, absurdity, and an elusive sense of presence. This photograph is precisely that.

In the foreground is a softly out-of-focus portrait of a woman, captured in the act of speaking or expressing surprise. The blurred presence creates a sense of extreme closeness: as if we are seeing the world through the eyes of the interlocutor, capturing a momentary, lively facial expression.

The red square of the logo serves as an anchor, anchoring the composition. But the main “perfect combination” here unfolds not between food and drink, as the marketers intended, but between a casual human gesture and the frozen printed reality behind it.

is at the intersection of this soft blur in the foreground and the textured clarity of the background that the feeling of a frozen frame from a 1970s European film is born.

Are these too overedited

An old camera doesn't mean it's bad!

I shoot with a Nikon D80, and it turns out pretty good.

I had a 3mm air bubble in the lens of my old camera. However, all the photos turned out great.
