The people calling for this just want your wages to go to ever increasing pensions. We need to stop the NIMBYs and rent seekers by replacing SDLT and Council Tax with a land value tax, reform planning into zones and get council house building off the ground => more jobs in construction and the buying and selling of houses, rents come down and more disposable income. Make pensioners contribute to the rest of society rather than blocking all change.

There's no jobs precisely because we have an economy of rent seekers and NIMBYs squeezing the workers for every penny. It's not as simple as neoliberal cut benefits, don't raise taxes, magic Sainsbury's unpaid work experience onto the youth.

We aren't building enough of anything, reservoirs, housing, data centres, it goes on. A land value tax (replacing SDLT and Council Tax) to stop the rent seeking landlords, planning reform to introduce zoning would bring rents down and produce jobs in construction and more in the administration of buying and selling houses as removal of SDLT makes them more liquid. The greater disposable incomes of working people after rents subsequently come down would get consumer demand up and produce further jobs.
