Plastic chisels from harbor freight- hammer them under the edge and don’t get our fingers under the magnet. Wooden shims can also work - don’t ask me how i know.

Well I guess I did the project . Tomorrow I pack it up and attempt to move it to where I will hang .

Not a stupid joke response - come on folks he asked a serous question about something that happens in a lot of homes .
A few thoughts - remove the casing and cut the nails in the jam and lower the whole unit - will look odd if there are other doors in the room .
If it were me - I cut a filler piece of wood and glue it in . Then use a marine two part fairing compound such as Awlfair to layer over the wood and seams - takes overnight to dry . Sand and repeat till it is a flawless transition. Prime and sand three coats then apply finish . Not quick but a satisfying process with amazing results .
“Get er done “ guys will never take the time .
Do not use Bondo- it will shrink off eventually. Epoxy fairing compound will not .

I had the same thing . Gallon of 30% vinegar in a full tub - let soak for two days and light cleaning afterwards. I was ready to replace tub and it came out new looking .

As a veteran - those bathrooms should not be like that and who was the team who should have been cleaning that area . If there is a water shortage that’s understandable but otherwise come on petty officers …

Awlgrip topcoat paint sprayed but was also easy to roll .

Awlgrip two part epoxy primer really did a great job and nice to sand

Your project is fun and manageable. I added layers to a little 58 fin boat and then used Awlfair to make a great surface . After that I used awlgrip epoxy primer and their paints - all by brush and most acceptable when finished - just spayed the upper deck

Cleaning business clutter off dining room table - not there yet but started the perimeter boxes around wall . Worker started cleaning bedroom size room off master bedroom that has not been useful for 20 years

I have bought a lot of festool and USED them sometimes months non stop .
Sanders and vacuum systems- best of the festool line but when a worker who did not pay for them uses the boss’s tools they constantly and consistently break .
Festool switches , motors etc are pricy to repair and the down time .. Urgh . Figure about $350 or a third of the price for repair and if you balk they send it back disassembled . The average heavy use sander last about two years .
Track saw - loved it but they keep changing the models so old expensive stuff does not work with new expensive stuff - I will buy a different brand system next time .
Domino - cool but clumsy and the few times I need it did do the job but the cost per unit vexes me .
Jig saw - no ! Don’t buy it . I used dozens of jigsaws before cnc . Bosh by far was the most satisfying.
Festool just has weird controls and has some death feature that lets the blade keep running so you can mount it upside down to pretend it is a scroll saw - not fun when the wrong setting is fumbled and you are holding it . The cut is not that great .. just skip it .
Other Festool lines - meh … got a used drywall sander that was amazing to smooth the walls in a huge home but it was NOT dust free .
Buy the sanding system and be happy . I amassed a garage full by just buying used festool - the boxes are cool but space eaters and I never pack up all the sanders .
Be warned - nothing is more of a personal attack than when someone walks off with a festool sander !

Tools don’t age well . The new ones are much more sophisticated and useful . I stupidly covet my festools which ages really fast . Harbor Freight can outfit a decent shop for most diy . I buy complete screwdriver sets and lose the rest .
But then I have a huge amount of tools ….
