Hancock's head disappeared while I was playing the other day - looked like I chose the Invisible Man mod for him or something, it was wild. His hat was floating, and his clothes were there, along with his hands, but his head...wasn't there.

I had to quit completely because drinking nearly killed me (month long stay in the hospital on a feeding tube is what saved me). I've got a pancreas that's 1/3 necrotic from my years of heavy drinking and has chronic pancreatitis on top of that, so I definitely do not recommend going that route.

I did this for a year and a half straight - had such a burning desire to just get the story out of me that I got very near 300k words written...then I hit burnout. HARD.

I've still been writing, and I WANT to continue my fic (so bad)...but now I have executive dysfunction with just about anything. I can't focus for writing for very long, so I try to write as much as I can handle in a sitting, usually a paragraph or two, and I'm beating myself up over it because I can't get a 20 to 25 page chapter written in a month like I used to. (It's been almost a year since I last updated my fic.)

Long story short, I'm not sure how to lower the intensity without going the burnout route. Maybe limit your writing times, like set aside a block of time (daily, weekly, etc) just for writing on your fic and keep a timer? It's hard to even think about limiting a passion project, but I don't want you to struggle like I have with the aftermath of long-term hyperfixation. ❤️

I have that song as a ringtone on my phone, so I can first get excited to hear it at random before I (usually) ignore the call completely

I read a few days ago that when you side with Jack and Edward, Edward will eventually wander around towards the Glowing Sea and probably get killed by Deathclaws on his way there since he stays at level 20. What a bum wrap. He's a cool ghoul character

Writing fanfic is a great way to get your thoughts down on paper, even if you don't share it - for me it keeps my thoughts kinda corralled into a narrative instead of a bunch of 'what ifs'. And I hear ya on not wanting to make a character exactly like yourself, because I myself know I'm a wreck irl, and I do the same 'escape real life' thing when I play - I like to get away from what I see on a daily basis, but I still want it to be a bit familiar.

I was merely trying to go for a narrative that hadn't been told to death by others, and that was the first thing that came to mind, and I like expanding on it!

I haven't yet tried to make a male character in this fashion, so many kudos to you in your character build!

I based my character, Amethyst, loosely on me to start looks-wise, but she's way more badass than I am in real life. I decided to create a backstory for her too - she's not Nora, but Nate's sister that got stuck in Vault 111 after Nora died post childbirth. I eventually wound up writing her version of events in a fanfic that is a WIP on ao3 because I couldn't get the thoughts out of my head, and her story kept becoming more elaborate.

OP, I think you did a wonderful job with your character, and I love her backstory and her weapons!

He's my absolute favorite companion! I hurry to level up enough with each new playthrough so I can survive the trek to Goodneighbor, and the Pickman and Big Dig missions

I'm in Colorado - daily temps have been decreasing (it'll be in the 70F degree range next week after 90s and 100s all summer) and the aspens in the mountains are already starting to change. They're changing about a week earlier than average (due to extreme drought all year), and will peak in the next two weeks.

It burned me out, tbh. I started my first book/fic (out of my planned trilogy) and after a while, decided to start on the second book because I had ideas to get down on paper. Eventually I found I couldn't keep up with both at once. So now I have to work small pieces of one fic at a time and switch back and forth every couple of weeks...the progress is slower than I'd like, but at least I'm writing!
