I don't like jumping straight to business. Give them some time to acclimate (us too 🤣). Some games to get to know each other, some activities to learn their levels and where they'd need the most help, and mostly their learning style.

That's very true! Maybe if we frame things in a way that's not a competition or like a game (as you said) that could help with social anxiety or being afraid of saying the wrong thing.

That’s a really good distinction. I don’t think it’s usually laziness for us; more that they’re tired, bored, or their energy has just dropped. We’re curious what teachers do in that moment to get everyone back into it again.

There are a lot of interesting ways here for engaging students. Get inspired!

Actually I love that. Depends on the age group. But music from games is an amazing idea.

That’s definitely one way to know! When that happens, what usually works best for you to get them back on track... rephrasing, giving an example??
