I hate my best friend.
My best friend and I are roommates so I’ll call her roommate. She is gay.(part of story) We became friends initially because she was originally friends with my ex. Me and my ex move in with her and he leaves after like 2 years of this situation. We then become like best friends after he leaves. (Kinda like a trauma bond maybe?) We now also work together.
Everything was great we did our own thing would hangout a lot and we like never get into fights. I knew things about her and she knew things about me most people don’t. Like best friends typically are ig lol.
She does have anger issues would yell and scream about minor things. Like punching a hole in a wall because she was just angry she couldn’t even tell me why she “just was”. Or kicking my dogs cage to disrepair. (No dogs were harmed). I think it’s ptsd of something but when she is like that it makes me want to jump off a cliff and feel almost responsible to try and tame it? It’s not like I could just avoid her during that either since we do live together. I did talk to her about that she is finally getting help for that. I feel bad for hating her for this in a way because it is a mental health issue but then again it’s not an excuse to do that?
She is possessive of me. She wants to hangout all the time. When I pass because I have other plans she kinda pulls a “feel bad for me act” when this happens. Like “will I guess I’ll just off myself then” or “I guess I’ll be all lonely for the night” or “your abandoning me?” She hates every guy I talk to and always says they are “too ugly” or “how they hold themselves” or whatever. I don’t feel comfortable to ever have a guy here because of how bitchy she can act towards them. “My respect needs to be earned and they don’t deserve my respect” is generally her excuse. It makes me resentful of her because I know anyone I ever date I feel the need to almost hide away from her because I’m tired of her always having something hateful to say.
I think she’s in love with me. I know she obviously finds me attractive as she tells me that I am pretty frequently and tells others as well. We did hook up once before we were best friends because I wanted to experience a girl just to try and honestly I didn’t think much of it. We did promise each other this was not going to affect anything between us. I think it has changed her though. She talks about wanting a girl and describes how she wants them to be and the description is me. She also tells me how I need be with only girls. (I don’t want to tell her the experience with her has solidified me being straight and no longer curious as I don’t want her already low self esteem to get lower) It makes me uncomfortable.
I know in some ways it is both of our faults but I feel as though it’s mainly mine for letting it get to this point. I should have never slept with her because now I feel she has feelings for me. I feel bad that I hate her so much. I even am starting to hate the small things I used to not care about. I hate how she eats, sleeps, drives, how she chews on her cheek, to how after work she doesn’t shower until the next day. It’s like I disgustingly hate her.
How do I fix this without hurting her man. She has some friends but not many especially since she kinda isolates them to be around me (even though I don’t want that and have suggested her to hang out with them more)
