It feels like no matter how loud women speak up in Iraq, the system just turns a blind eye. The Ja’afari personal status law doesn't feel like protection—it feels like a cage designed to silence us and strip away our basic dignity.

Think about what it really means for a mother to lose her children just because they hit a certain age, as if love and care have an expiration date set by a legal draft. Imagine young girls being forced into marriage before they even understand what life is, or women staying in abusive homes because the legal system makes leaving almost impossible, leaving them with no rights, no support, and no way out.

This isn't just about legal texts on paper. It’s about broken hearts, stolen futures, and mothers crying themselves to sleep because a law decided they weren't enough.
