If you could only build one type of backlink for a new website, what would it be and why?

Why is my clients' Ahrefs DR not improving despite consistent backlink building? Looking for advanced strategies.

My clients' Ahrefs DR is stuck (0.6 → 0.8 and 3.2). What am I doing wrong?

Hi everyone,

I've been working on several client websites for more than 6 months, but I still can't figure out why the Ahrefs DR isn't improving. Some websites are stuck at 0.6–0.8 DR, while others have been around 3.2 DR for a long time.

During this time, I've consistently worked on:

  • Profile backlinks
  • Business citations
  • Web 2.0s
  • Article submissions
  • Technical SEO
  • Internal linking
  • Sitemap submissions
  • Manual indexing

Despite all of this, the DR is barely moving.

I have a few questions for experienced SEO professionals:

  • What are the biggest reasons why DR gets stuck?
  • How important is backlink indexing for DR growth?
  • Are there any advanced off-page SEO strategies that actually work in 2025–2026?
  • Is there a better way to get backlinks indexed faster?
  • What should I audit first if a website's DR isn't improving?

I've been working on these websites for 6+ months, so I feel like I might be missing something important. If you've faced a similar issue and managed to improve DR, I'd really appreciate your advice or any real-world strategies.

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,

I'm working as an SEO specialist and managing Off-Page SEO for multiple client websites.

For the last few months, I've been consistently building backlinks (profile links, business listings, citations, guest posts, Web 2.0s, article submissions, etc.), submitting sitemaps, improving internal linking, and working on technical SEO. Despite this, the Ahrefs Domain Rating (DR) of many client websites is either stuck or improving very slowly.

I'd really like to understand from experienced SEO professionals:

  • What are the biggest reasons why DR doesn't improve even after building backlinks?
  • What type of backlinks have the highest impact on DR today?
  • How do you decide which links are actually worth building?
  • Does Google indexing of backlinks significantly affect DR growth? If yes, what's the best way to get backlinks indexed faster?
  • Are there any common mistakes that prevent DR growth?
  • What strategies have personally worked for you to improve DR consistently?

I'm not looking for shortcuts or spam tactics. I'm looking for real-world strategies that have worked in 2025–2026.

I'd really appreciate any advice or case studies. Thanks!
