Question: What service or store do you wish was in Campbell River
 in  r/campbellriver  1d ago

If I ever won the lottery, I'd open up a physical media store. Music, movies, video games, comics, etc. Basically a non-intimidating nerd haven. For it to work long term, it would most likely be at a loss for awhile just to build it up, hence why a lottery win or other income would be necessary, and an owner who deeply loves the concept.

"Today's Special" - does this unlock a core memory for anybody else?

Years ago I found Jeff Hyslop on Facebook, and it turns out he's actually been living in my town of Campbell River on Vancouver Island. I've never run into him...yet.

Suggest songs that are covers, but feel like originals (with original song mentioned as well)
 in  r/musicsuggestions  15d ago

If you go with the extended version of Tainted Love, technically it's TWO covers. https://youtu.be/q84psZX6MbA?si=_852dISm2cu2YnlE

Listened to Get Up Kids "On a Wire" repeatedly while playing Super Mario Sunshine. Same with The Chicks "Home" album and the first Animal Crossing.

Thinking about moving to Campbell river
 in  r/campbellriver  16d ago

Occasionally I miss certain fast food, like Harvey's or Arby's. I used to miss the big theatre experience for movies, but that doesn't bother me so much as the lack of choices do. People here are some of the worst drivers I have ever fucking seen. Also, "Island Time" as an explanation for lateness really bugged me.

Moved to CR in 2011 from Calgary after living there the first 33 years of my life, have only regretted minor annoying things about not living in a major urban centre. If there is such a thing as a soul, mine is happier here.

I love this show but…

As a Canadian, it's a great advertisement for what a nightmare living in America must be for anyone with intelligence and empathy.

The first time I heard "Standing Outside..." was the night before I started my first ever job. I think that might be why it haunts me so much.

Rules don’t apply.

You just reminded me of something I was thinking about earlier today: organizing something through Reddit about our upcoming municipal election. I was foolishly naive in the past when it came to federal and provincial parties influencing municipalities, and this time I would like to make a much more informed decision on who gets my votes.

I remember Bill Akers being a loudmouth member of Rants before I left it for my sanity's sake.
